It perfectly mocks our current approach to sexual assault prevention, which covertly makes it the woman’s responsibility. This blogger turns the tables. While current tips include don’t put your drink down and don’t walk by yourself, she provides equivalent tips for the assaulters. Don’t get me wrong, I understand where people are coming from when they tell me to carry mace. But here’s my problem. I moved to New York when I was 17 and I received so many warnings that I actually felt guilty about walking around after dark. But I wasn’t really doing anything wrong. Staying out late seems to be a risk on the woman’s part and it’s partially her fault if she’s assaulted.
