Sans titre. ROB SILVER: Blues scales, mapped out in all positions... I'm feeling a bit down, so here's some diagrams of the Minor and Major Blues Scales for you all to amuse yourselves with.

ROB SILVER: Blues scales, mapped out in all positions...

I'm getting really fond of the Major Blues Scale, so that's how I'm going to be filling up my evenings this week. It's really cold out side still, but the snow seems to have gone for now. I really should be demoing guitars at a sunny music show somewhere instead of trudging through the snow every morning this week on my way to a tedious trade show, but hey, what can you do... All this historical angst is great and all, but I've just got some awesome guitar diagram software so I'm updating all the older stuff to sexy new diagrams. I'm editing things at the old urls like this because I've linked to the resources in loads of places. You can now support the blog by buying this content and MUCH MORE on amazon. ROB SILVER: THE DIMINISHED SCALE (WHOLE/HALF) THE DIMINISHED SCALE (Whole/Half) is a very interesting sound.

ROB SILVER: THE DIMINISHED SCALE (WHOLE/HALF)

It contains the intervals 1,2,b3,4,b5,b6,6,7, If you visualize it running up a single string you can see that it is made of alternating 1 and 2 fret gaps. One of the interesting results of this is that if you look at the diagrams below you will see that while it does have eight positions as would any eight note scale, you will see that it is just the same two shapes repeated over and over again. Despite have eight notes in it THE DIMINISHED SCALE (Also Known as the Octatonic Scale) only has 2 modes. WHOLE/HALF DIMINISHED shown on this page and HALF/WHOLE DIMINISHED which you can find HERE. ROB SILVER: THE DIMINISHED SCALE (HALF/WHOLE) THE DIMINISHED SCALE (Half/Whole) is the only mode of the DIMINISHED SCALE.

It may contain some typos, but the FileMaker files which are linked from this page are later, more detailled and accurate. The objective of this project is to produce a searchable database of all the 2048 possible scales of 12 edo, and to describe each of these scales in at least one LucyTuned scalecoding, which will serve as a vocabulary or thesaurus of scales, and the triads which can be produced from each scale.

There are a possible total of 2048 different scales in 12edo; by LucyTuning your music the scale possibilities are increased infinitely. Tonality (or harmonic field) is a group of chords created through a specific scale.

Tonality and Harmonic Fields

Take like example C major scale: C, D, E, F, G, A, B. For each note in the scale we will create a chord. We will have, then, seven chords, the will be the chords of the tonality of C. How will we create this tonality? For each note in the scale, the respective chord will be created using the first, the third and the fifth degree (starting to be counted in this note, in this same scale). The first chord in the tonality of C is created then by the notes C, E and G (pay attention that this is the C chord, because E is the major third of C). Now let’s create the chord of the next note, which is D. You should be realizing that until here we are creating the chords in the harmonic field thinking in triads and using only the notes that appear in the scale in question (C major). Song Tonality Very good, you learned how to create a harmonic field. Creating the complete table we will have: The Harmonic Functions. Harmonic Function is a title that represents the feeling (emotion) that certain chord transmits to the listener.

The Harmonic Functions

This concept will be clearer when we give you examples. First of all, you have to know that the three main harmonic functions are: Tonic Function Transmits a feeling of rest, stability and finalization. Promotes the idea of conclusion. Dominant Function Transmits instability and tension feeling. All About the Diminished Chord. Diminished chord is a chord made by the musical degrees: 1, 3b, 5b, 7bb.
