The number of shocked, confused or otherwise disturbed looks I've received over the past month have convinced me that it's time to put something like this together. It's obviously difficult to answer all questions someone might have in a single conversation without forgetting an important detail or mangling the delivery, so I hope that this site will serve to do a better job than I do in person! For this blog to work, you have to do one thing for me.
You have to assume that I’m not a moron, that I’m not deluded, and that I have put and am putting fairly significant effort into validating the safety and validity of this experiment. *=extra caution and extra moderation if Crohn’s Disease present. The saffron tea will help clear up the psoriatic complications, especially when used in conjunction with slippery elm bark. The first as a common drink, every day, and the elm about three times every week; a quarter teaspoonful in 6 ounces of warm water--it becomes (good and) slimy. Beware drinks (as those from Orange Julius) and meats (cold cuts) that contain alum (aluminum). Table salt contains some aluminum as a desiccant. Never combine vegetable juices with fruit juices, or drink one within nine hours of the other, but they should be combined together, especially lime and orange, or carrot with spinach and watercress juices.
Coffee and teas without any milk product and not too much sugar; artificial sweeteners or honey is much better. If eating meats, never combine with any starches. Eat early, eat often. It is intended to give you a starting point for beginning the diet. You will need to customize the diet to suit your personal starch tolerance levels. It is very helpful if you are just starting out to read Carol Sinclair's book The IBS Low Starch Diet. She has AS and IBS. This book explains the reasoning behind the diet and how and why it works. You can test food for starch using Iodine solution which can be purchased from your local pharmacy or drug store. Dairy products are not starchy in themselves, only if starch has been added (example is thickeners added into cottage cheese etc).
