Like so many things in linguistics, stem theory has the ability to demystify a lot of what is irregular and unpredictable in ancient languages like Latin, Greek and Sanskrit – things that have put many people off the language altogether. This article, which I fully intend to help all Latin enthusiasts, from beginners to experts, will focus on stems in Latin, though I think much of it will be applicable to other languages.
