As you might recall, Daenerys Targaryen has just taken control of the Dothraki army after burning Khal Moro and company alive. She says something pretty telling as she prepares to attack King's Landing. She has a big enough army to defeat the Lannisters and take the throne. Yesterday, we mused over who Sansa was writing to behind her brother Jon’s back in episode 6 ‘The Broken Man’, and now that theorising has all been rendered moot by a fan with incredibly good eyesight and Photoshop skills. A shot of the letter upside down was rotated and enhanced by Redditor u/CreepyPancakes - you can see their process in the gallery below - with the words that can be made out being as follows: “[…] Now you have a chance to fulfill your promise [...] Knights of the Vale are under your command. Ride north for Winterfell. As expected, Sansa was indeed writing to Littlefinger, who is in her debt after betrothing her to the maniacal Ramsay Bolton. The clue was in the episode, which saw Sansa distracted by a bird in the Stark camp, a bird being Petyr Baelish’s House sigil. Loaded: 0% Game of Thrones season 6 episode 8: Blackfish actor on why his character is different on show to in the books.
** Spoilers for season six episode eight of Game of Thrones ** Having managed to flee the Red Wedding in season three, the Blackfish wasn’t known for being the bravest warrior in Westeros (at least in the show).
However, by the time the siege of Riverrun eventually happens on screen, the Tully decides to stand his honour, fighting numerous Lannister men off while Brienne escapes. In George RR Martin’s novels, the tale of Blackfish is very different. For starters, he was never actually at the Red Wedding, having remained in Riverrun on Robb Stark’s command. Second, and most importantly, he is still alive, having fled the siege after Edmure gave up the castle. Game of Thrones season 6 episode 8: What is the rumour Qyburn confirms for Cersei? Is she looking perhaps for Wildfire?
** Spoilers for season six episode eight of Game of Thrones ** While attention up North was firmly on the siege at Riverrun, back in King’s Landing it was all about Cersei and The Mountain.
Notably, her son, King Tommen, has banned Trial By Combat, something Cersei was hoping to use in her defence against the Faith Militant. The High Sparrow likely knew she would use The Mountain, convincing Tommen to ban the barbaric practice because no person in the capital could win against the Clegane brother. Attention turned to what may happen next, with Qyburn whispering to the Queen Mother that his Birds had found something.
