Il faut noter que bien que les conditions de sécurité n'aient pas été idéales, que 400 ouvriers furent mobilisés à cet ouvrage, que les travaux durèrent 14 années, aucun accident mortel ne fut à déplorer, un cas rarissime à l'époque.
