The Mid-Continent Railway Historical Society is pleased to announce its sixth annual Gandy Dancer Festival taking place Saturday, August 18th on the Promenade in Mazomanie, WI. And once again admission is free. Headlining this year's day-long music festival is the Claire Lynch Band, continuing our tradition of bringing the best in nationally renowned bluegrass music to the festival's main stage. Claire has twice been named Female Vocalist of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association. And twice she has been nominated for a Grammy award. We are also pleased to welcome to this year's festival as our special guest folk artist Bill Staines. But the Gandy Dancer Festival is about more than music. Our Tours - Visitors' Guide. May 1 through October 31, Taliesin Preservation, Inc. offers a variety of tours of the Taliesin Estate in Spring Green, Wisconsin.
These tours are designed for every level of interest. All tours begin at the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center, which is open 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., seven days a week during our regular season (May 1 - October 31). House Tours are also available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in April and November. The Taliesin Estate is privately owned, and is therefore accessible only on a guided tour. Looking east at Mazomanie Geography[edit] Mazomanie is located at WikiMiniAtlas According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.86 square miles (4.82 km2), of which, 1.83 square miles (4.74 km2) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km2) is water.[1] History[edit] The land on which rests the town of Mazomanie fell within the hunting grounds of the Hočąk, or Winnebago, Indian nation.
By the nation's centennial, Mazomanie had grown to 1,100 people, making it the second largest community in Dane County. Demographics[edit] Buildings in downtown 2010 census[edit] There were 689 households of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.4% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 32.8% were non-families. 25.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

It is located north of Dodgeville, a city in Iowa County, south of Spring Green, Wisconsin and is a regional tourist attraction. Background[edit] The House's "Infinity Room" is visible from an overlook off of Highway 23, almost a mile (1.6 km) away The House on the Rock official website has posted information questioning the legitimacy of Boyum's story for the following reasons: The Villa Maria was built in 1923 and designed by well-known architect Frank Riley,[5] not Alex Jordan, Sr.Both Sid Boyum and Alex Jordan Jr. were born in 1914 and would have been less than 9 years old when this story was to have happened.
