Identified school coordinators are responsible for submitting the professional learning plan for approval, monitoring the registration process for staff members, and awarding Professional Learning Units (PLUs) upon completion of the course. The professional development interventions included in the school-focused plan must be data-driven, results-oriented, and research-based.

The New Teacher Institute was developed to provide support to all teachers new to the . The Institute is held for four days in the summer. The purpose of the Institute is to provide a focus on the effective teaching standards in the areas of classroom environment, standards-based planning and assessment, instruction and professional responsibilities. You will receive valuable resources and support to make your teaching experience successful for you and your students.

The New Teacher Institute is required for all new teachers and is considered your job site for the four days. Participants will receive 3 Professional Learning Units of credit for completion of all four days. All new teachers should arrive at Barber Middle School by 8:00 for an opening session on July 24th. Elementary teachers will transition to Acworth Elementary School which shares a parking lot with Barber after the opening session. District Courses.
