Points of entry: Mathematics The activities and game in Using Resources and Classifying Resources challenge students to think about what part of the resources they use is renewable and what the implications are if current patterns of use continue (or accelerate).

Using Resources and Classifying Resources

Students may not realise that every discussion of resources – especially resources that are nonrenewable – inevitably comes back to mathematical understandings, particularly inverses, rates, and ratios: if a non-renewable resource is consumed at a faster rate, it will run out sooner; if some consume more than their share, others have to make do with less. Question 2 in Classifying Resources shifts the focus to the mathematics behind the game: integers and probability. Integers are used to describe the direction of each move (whether forwards or backwards); probability concerns the likelihood of particular outcomes. Points of entry: Science After the game, discuss the concept that there is not always a clear right answer.

Recycling Games For Kids. Living Published on May 5th, 2015 | by Jeff McIntire-Strasburg While I can’t say for certain, I’d guess that recycling’s become so associated with environmental responsibility because it plugs right into our consumer society.

Recycling Games For Kids

As long as you know which materials go where, you don’t have to give recycling much more thought: just continue to consume and toss. As we’ve shown many times, there’s much more to recycling: technical challenges and economics alone complicate the picture tremendously beyond what we see in our own homes. And while we don’t all have to become experts on the whole process of recycling, understanding the bigger picture helps us handle our role in the chain of activities more mindfully and responsibly. Of course, kids want to know all of those details, and soak them up like little sponges.

While your kids will play most of these games on screens – either computer or mobile device – I also dug up a few “live action” games. Know of games that we don’t have listed here? LP Renewable vs Nonrenewable. Nonrenewable resources. Hi there and happy Wednesday everyone!

nonrenewable resources

We’ve made it to the middle of the week. Hooray! Today in class we took a math/analytical approach to our Writing Wednesday activity! This activity is entitled “Comparing Energy Resources: An Analytical Approach”. Students were presented with a table with 9 different energy sources and the maximum and minimum cost. Next, they moved on to classifying each energy resource as either nonrenewable or renewable into a nice neat little table. The third step was to take their calculations from the averaged column and create a BAR GRAPH with the data. Appropriate titleLabeled axes (ie ‘Average Cost’ and ‘Energy Source’).Uniform intervals on the Y-axisAll other information labeled The fourth step was identifying the highest and lowest averages for energy resources.

It was quite an extensive activity! Energy Resources Analytical Adventure Remember, if you DID NOT complete the assignment, it is DUE TOMORROW 2/27/14 the moment you arrive to class! Resources.
