See more pictures of the complete camper conversion here I love the idea of living in a van But I don’t really find the look and feel of most motorhomes or campers very appealing (I mean home like). Months of daydreaming allowed me to get a pretty clear image of how I wanted the van to be. No plans/layouts were drawn up or measured.
It was pretty much built on-the-fly. UPDATE: My book, From Van to Home, is now available as an instant download. My van – a space for living I used common materials found in DIY and home shops rather than using the specialised (and expensive) materials from motorhome/camopervan shops. The result is something that feels pretty cosy and home like, and you can easily forget you are in a 10 year old van by the side of the road. Features of my converted camper van: Here’s the van before conversion The van is 10 years old. Now it’s time to travel Europe! I am developing my skills and found a used portable table saw on Craigslist. I needed a place to store my table saw along with the reclaimed wood I was purchasing. I searched online for various plans and could not find exactly what I needed. I needed something mobile, compact and simple to build. SO I made a few sketches on a notepad. This is the first time I've taken on a challenge in woodworking where I'm building something from scratch, developing my own plans. And yes my workbench is purple. DIY Doily Light: Simple Suspended-Sphere Lace Lamp Shade. So simple a child could make it – and have fun in the process, too. And the result? A shining example of how light and shadow can work together to brighten up a room.
Swedish craftswoman Isabelle Dos started with a simple party-shop balloon, blown up big and wrapped in white lace place settings painted with wallpaper glue. The soaked material sticks readily to the sides of the inflated sphere, overlapping to form a contiguous shell, suspended and left to dry overnight like a plaster cast. Pop the balloon and presto: a little cut in the top lets you drop in a bare bulb and create your own chandelier, potentially using whatever pattern you want (if lace feels a little too old-fashioned) to frame the outside and filter the light. The last but very important thing to do is to cover the hut with some protection against weather and rain.I choosed to cover the hut with tarpaper because its easy and cheap, or you can paint the hut directly with tar if you want, but it is a messy project to do that....You can see that i have nailed some ribbons over the tarpaper that this summer will be used to mount some (i have not decided what type yet) outer panel on.
That ugly monster you see in the last pic is an experiment to see if the arrangement could store some heat for the night (you make the fire around it), it works, but i will later on test an idea that makes use of self circulating water from an accumulator tank and radiators under the lavas (where you sit and sleep) . Finnished! You are now the proud owner of a unique Sami hut that you can use as a guesthouse or maybe a cool looking sauna..... PS. If you dont want to turn yourself into a smoke-dried fish, you MUST USE WELL DRIED and WELL SPLITTED wood.

[you_have_broken_the_internet]: Handmade Coat Rack. Finished. first we mocked everything out in the 1/2" black steel... we used two 4 foot pipes for the sides, and a 3 foot pipe for the top and two 18" pipes with a union for the bottom... we changed a few things at this point.. bottom structure... changed to T's instead of elbows... needed to use 3" pipes to support the wood shelf... then added a 45 degree elbow and plug at the top for a hanging front and back hook... moved the union and 18" pipes to the bottom to be covered by the wood shelf... *a union must be used because the threading on one side of your pipe will unscrew itself as you tighten the opposite side... we used two 1"x8" oak for the shelf... joined together underneath...I wanted to use old (free) wood and nothing we had was wide enough and/or long enough... I got mine from a guy in Bradford, VT who calls himself the "Barrel Man," but if you don't live in the area, you can usually find them on craigslist. Make sure you get a barrel that hasn't been holding anything toxic, since you'll have to spend a fair amount of time crawling around the inside during the assembly process.
This barrel formerly held palm oil, and there was a small puddle of it on the inside (it had the consistency of crisco) and every once in a while I accidentally stuck an elbow in it. I bought a Vogelzang Barrel Stove Kit, Model# BK100E from Amazon.com. Assemble the stove following the directions in the kit. The kit comes with the door, the chimney collar and the legs.
