Curbside Communicator Unique’s Curbside Communicator automates curbside pickups for holds and creates a simple communication link between patrons and library staff to facilitate the process.

ByWater Solutions develops curbside pickup functionality for the Koha Community. The Koha Community, one of the world's largest and most active Open Source communities, now has a curbside service integration, allowing our library partners to serve their patrons remotely in a much more efficient manner.

ByWater Solutions saw an urgent need for this functionality within Koha and wanted to develop this integration as quickly as possible for our partners and the Koha Community. Equinox Open Library Initiative shared the specifications for similar functionality that was written for Evergreen ILS, (Bugzilla bug 25698 from Galen Charlton). The speed at which this feature was written illustrates how quickly an Open Source community can react to the needs of their libraries, especially during times of crisis. In these tumultuous times we find ourselves digitally connected, searching for new ways to work and interact. Today, Ex Libris is launching a series of initiatives to help institutions affected by COVID-19 maintain their relationships and connections. I hope that these initiatives can play a part in helping institutions adapt to some of the challenges these extraordinary times present. , SYL ja yliopistokirjastot vetoavat: Digitaalisten tietoaineistojen saatavuus turvattava poikkeusoloissa - Unifi. Vetoomus suomalaisille tiedekustantajille, tietoaineistojen välittäjille, Kansalliskirjastolle ja kaikille niille tahoille, joilla on mahdollisuus vaikuttaa digitaalisten tietoaineistojen kattavan saatavuuden turvaamiseksi yliopistojen etäopetuksen, tutkimuksen ja opiskelun tarpeisiin Suomen hallituksen julistaman poikkeustilan ajaksi.

Suomen yliopistot ovat 18.3.2020 alkaen keskeyttäneet kaiken lähiopetuksen hallituksen linjausten mukaisesti COVID-19-tilanteessa, ja siirtyneet laajasti etäopetukseen nopealla aikataululla. Myös tutkimustoiminta toteutetaan etätyöskentelynä niin pitkälle kuin mahdollista. Poikkeustilanteessa yliopistojemme etäopiskelun ja tutkimuksen tekemisen kriittinen edellytys on digitaalisten kurssikirjojen, tiedelehtien ja muiden tietoaineistojen saatavuus. Osa suomalaisista tietoaineistojen välittäjistä tarjoaa yliopistoille ns. kampuslisenssejä, joiden käyttö on mahdollista ainoastaan rajatusti yliopiston tietoverkossa.

Suljetusta kirjastosta voi nyt hakea valmiiksi pakatun kassin toivomiaan teoksia – E-kirjoillakin nyt kysyntää. Koronaepidemian takia suljetut kirjastot pyrkivät palvelemaan asiakkaitaan nyt uudella tavalla.

Lue tästä uusimmat tiedot koronavirustilanteesta Kirjastot eivät ole jääneet neuvottomiksi koronaepidemian edessä. Vaikka niiden ovet menivät kiinni, ovat kirjastot eri puolilla maata kehitelleet korvaavia palveluja. Esimerkiksi Sallassa ja Kuhmossa on otettu käyttöön kirjakassipalvelu. Kirjaston henkilökunta pakkaa asiakkaiden toivomat kirjat kasseihin, ja noudosta sovitaan asiakkaan kanssa. Helsingissä harkitaan lähes vastaavaa palvelua. Isommissa kaupungeissa mietitään nyt ennen kaikkea sitä, miten asiakkaita voidaan palvella verkossa. Esimerkiksi Turussa kaupunginkirjasto avasi Insta-liven, jossa kirjastonhoitaja vastaa asiakkaiden kysymyksiin ja antaa arkiaamuisin kirjavinkkejä. Ammattikorkeakoulut vetoavat maksuttomien verkkoaineistojen puolesta - Arene. Kirjastojen sulkeminen koko maassa koronaepidemian vuoksi on vaikeuttanut opiskelua korkeakouluissa.

Suomen ammattikorkeakoulut vetoavat nyt kustantajiin, aineistovälittäjiin ja palveluntarjoajiin kotimaisen tietoaineiston saamiseksi opiskelukäyttöön joko maksutta tai nimellistä korvausta vastaan. Ammattikorkeakoulujen opetus tapahtuu toistaiseksi etäopetuksena eikä opiskelijoilla ole pääsyä kirjastojen painettuun aineistoon. Tämän vuoksi verkossa olevan oppimateriaalin tarve on akuutti. Ammattikorkeakoulujen kirjastot pyrkivät omalta osaltaan laajentamaan e-aineistojen tarjontaa, mutta nyt tarvittaisiin nopeampia ja tehokkaampia ratkaisuja opiskelijoiden hyväksi.

Poikkeustilanteesta huolimatta valtionjohdon tavoitteena on, että opinnot etenevät täyspainoisesti laadukasta oppimateriaalia käyttäen ja että opiskelijat valmistuvat suunnitellussa aikataulussa.
