It is for actors and directors with some experience who want to take their skills to the next level and who want to become more reflective, aspirational practitioners: better at the practice and better at articulating the practice . The two programme strands, Acting and Directing, focus on two strands of theatre - Classical (Shakespeare and Renaissance) and Contemporary (new writing), with the cohort effectively working as an ensemble company.
Acting and Directing students are supported and encouraged to work with each other, developing a thorough understanding of professional practice. You will benefit from opportunities to learn, experiment, and collaborate in a packed schedule of projects, performances, and rehearsals. Content Acting and Performance Studies – Classes in Acting Technique, Acting for Camera, Acting for Radio, Improvisation. Teaching and learning The first three taught terms consists of practical skills classes in acting, voice and movement together with scene study rehearsals. ALRA tutors are both trained teachers and professional practitioners. Bristol - International Acting. The Training As with all the courses at BOVTS, actor training is rigorous and demanding – particularly on the intensive One Year MA for International students.
You will start each day at 8.45am with a physical and vocal warm up and then contact hours continue until 6.30pm or 7.00pm (5.30pm Friday). Your mornings typically are taken up by class: Voice, Accent, Movement, Period Movement, Combat, Acting Technique, Singing and Alexander, etc., with afternoons more focused on working on Text Projects. This means that you will be in practical sessions for approximately 36 hours each week. On top of that you will have to undertake a great deal of private work: line learning, vocal and movement practice, class preparation, reflection. The year is divided into 4 Terms: Autumn – 12 weeks; Spring – 12 weeks; Summer – 11 weeks; Mid-Summer – 5 weeks. The course is divided into 5 Modules. In practice these are integrated throughout the course: (Movement, Voice, Alexander) (Combat, Period Movement) Auditions.
Italia Conti - Foundation Course. The Foundation Course at Italia Conti is aimed at those who wish to develop their existing acting skills with a view to moving on to full-time actor training at an accredited Drama School or on a practical University course.
It will enable you to experience the rigours of vocational training and to make informed choices about your future. You will work in the professional and disciplined environment of a leading drama conservatoire and profit from the knowledge and experience of the staff working within the academy. You will undertake audition practice and practical classes in acting, voice, singing and movement will encourage you to develop an independent working process.
