Recently i was contacted by P&G and the Home Depot, asking me to highlight the benefits of using Swiffer Sweeper and Mr. Clean Magic Erasers for painting projects. i loved the idea because those are 2 products i use more than any other cleaning products in my house! Over the last few months (ok, 6+), i have been slowly redecorating my girls’ shared room. there room has stayed the same for about 6 years, and i thought a little updating would be fun! I can’t wait to reveal the whole room to you, but first that would involve finishing it, which i have yet to do – ha!

I bought 2 colors of paint: flamingo dream and dark granite, both by behr from the Home depot. i got the coral in a semi gloss and the grey in a high gloss. i almost always paint in lower sheens like eggshell, but i really wanted this to have a glossy look to it. i used the Mr. Make Your Craft Room Work For You - The Red Painted Cottage.

I am a creative down to the core, but i don’t capture my projects as often as i’d like to because i do most of my creating at night. night time is great for crafting but bad for blogging (no light = bad pictures). but yesterday, when the kids were at school, i made the grown up choice to create this tutorial instead of napping (and totally regretted that decision by 3pm)! I created these leather tassel necklaces several months ago with some left over supplies after closing my shop. i kept a couple for myself and love to wear them layered together. i can wear them long or short since they are adjustable. i have been asked for a tutorial several times after wearing them in my what i wore posts. so here you go!

Other supplies needed: about 32″ of chain – i chose antique bronze (similar here) 2 4mm jump rings (similar here) 1 head pin (similar) Modern jewelry dishes & Sharpie paint markers. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed.

As the supervisor and display lead at Fred & Betty’s thrift store, i am often searching for new ideas of thrift store crafts to share with our followers on Instagram. there are so many clever ideas available, but not always modern, so i decided to create my own! The Pleated Poppy. I told you i was way behind on parties – this one was from a couple years ago!

The Pleated Poppy

My oldest, grace, wanted to have an outdoor movie party with all of her friends from school and church. i was able to pull together a simple theme with red items with a vintage feel. we set up a cute snack table with popcorn and treats – everything you need for a movie night! Sometimes i overestimate on the time we need for a party, and this one was way too long! I think we started at 5, and couldn’t start the movie until after 8 when it was dark enough. so to fill that extra time, beyond eating and gift opening, we set up a handful of games for the group of preteens. spoons is always a fun game for both boys and girls together. we also played twister outside on the grass – which is always hilarious!

Because all the candy just wasn’t enough (#sarcasm), we also supplied all the goods for s’mores at the outdoor fireplace. finally, movie time!
