It’s not quite a rotating homes screen / view, but it is close. The first time one turns the N900 into Portrait mode, you need to align your icons or widgets into the correct position or location. You only need to do this once, and the position will be saved or remembered (as it is in horizontal mode). Installation Instructions: Download: hd_18_07_2011.deb and then copy it to your /home/user/MyDocs folder (Note: This version might not be the latest, so please check the first post over at Talk.Maemo.org for confirmation – As it happens it’s the latest version as of 19/07/2011). Some might like the shadow but I prefer to have a clean icon with no shadow and what appears to be a transparent background. I prefer to do all my changes via WinSCP instead of typing in X-Term, but it’s entirely up to you how you do it and there is no right or wrong way. NITDroid is an Android port for the N900, an Android variant that is currently based on Android Gingerbread 2.3.4. Ammyt only recently told us how to install the Sense theme on our NITDroid N900. The guy is incredibly dedicated to the Sense cause. One thing I will say is be prepared to try and try again. It took me quite a while to get my Sense theme (clock, weather and dock perfect) and I am not there yet. The dock is currently an image only. As it’s quite a detailed process I recommend following the instructions on the forum, because if you get stuck you can post a question to Ammyt.

It is Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 port released by Alex Roslyakov (@drunkdebugger | e-yes). There have been a number of versions prior to this one, but each one improves on the last and this one is no exception. I found all the information over on the Maemo.org forum, specifically the “Nitdroid easy install on Emmc” page is very useful. NOTE: This version still does not have full two way voice support. It is fully customizable and by that I mean everything one sees on the screen can be changed via a configuration file (font, images, icons, clock, play, fast forward, rewind, pause etc). In the past one swipe from left to right would unlock the N900. Enhanced Lockscreen introduced music control icons, which allowed the user to play, pause, rewind or fast forward the song while the N900 was locked. Now, to unlock the phone one holds down the lock key at the bottom of the screen for a second. QtLockscreen also supports portrait mode and the image can be the same or completely different to the one used in landscape mode.
The configuration file is call QtLockscreen.ini and is found in /home/user/.config/sakya – It can be easily edited to your hearts content. And ever since then many people have asked me various questions relating to the scripts that were discussed in that post, scripts that many others in the know had written to get more than 4 desktops to be viewable. If you are not comfortable with scripts then there is an easier way. Visit the CSSU (Community Seamless Software Update) wiki page and follow the installation instructions. How to speed up your Nokia N900 considerably? The first post in the thread (73315) is titled “[ANNOUNCE] Script (speedpatch) + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 (Update)“. It explains what one needs to do to speed up your N900. There are some extra tips in the post as well such as : Install the latest Power Kernel 47 so that overclocking is possible,Install the application Swappolube for extra speed tweaks, Just out of interest sake I have the latest CSSU version PR 1.3.3.7-9 loaded as well and it works well.
The thread is quite detailed and can be confusing if you don’t know where to start, but I have downloaded the patch (speedpatch-ALTERNATIVE.tar.gz) and followed his instructions.
