Così, se per esempio si riprende un fotogramma ogni secondo e poi si proietta il risultato a 30 fps (frames per second, fotogrammi al secondo), nel video il fenomeno accadrà 30 volte più velocemente che nella realtà. Se invece si riprende una foto ogni ora, nel video a 30 fps il fenomeno sarà accelerato di oltre centomila volte (30×3600). All’epoca della pellicola le riprese di questo tipo erano assai laboriose, come per la plastilina animata di certi «Caroselli» pubblicitari realizzati cinquant’anni fa con la tecnica «passo uno».
