Hitting The Road With SETMEONFIRE. Listen to the interview below or on Spotify and iTunes Podcast: Hot off the heels of their Lowtech album Sydney’s very own Setmeonfire are heading out onto the road for an east coast tour.
Given the brilliance of Lowtech these are shows that you are not going to want to miss so HEAVY Mag sat down with Cameron Eyre to see what they have planned for their fans on this tour. “This tour came about after the release of Lowtech last month,” says Eyre as we start to discuss the nitty gritty of the tour. “The natural thing to do was to follow that up with some shows but that is actually difficult for me because I have a family at home so I have to try and fit shows around life as opposed to some other bands that are more full on and you have to fit life around the band. That leads me to ask him just how difficult it is to juggle band life with family life.

Your friends tell you that it is awesome and that you should give it a go, and it isn’t until the 5th or 6th listen that you can see what they’re talking about. In an oversaturated music market, I’m willing to bet that this sort of thing happens less and less. As our reluctance to make music a significant part of our identity continues to grow, one has to wonder what will happen to truly original metal that takes some time to burrow itself into our psyches. Lowtech is the debut album from sci-fi band Setmeonfire and ‘interesting’ would be the word I would use to encapsulate this release. On the album’s juxtaposing title, live keyboardist and backup vocalist Oliver elaborates – “We are simple beings living in rapidly advancing technological environment. We’ll have to play with the fire first to learn what it can do – even if it means getting burnt in the process.” The new album contains eleven tracks. Let’s get to some of the highlights. The title track leads us off, with heavy electronica and a slow moving tempo. “The Expidition” has some early electronica with light vocals, before the main riff hits. “Rebirth” closes the album, opening with a heavy guitar riff out of the gates.
