Créer des tuiles en 3D [The Creative World of Eni Oken] Dessin de lignes (auras) avec 6 leçons de Simone Bischoff [TanglePatterns.com] Simone Bischoff’s Line Art Lessons Many of us are fascinated by the wonderful, mesmerizing line art murals of Justine Ashbee which she executes spontaneously by hand with paint pens.
If you search Google and click on the Images tab, prepare to be blown away by her beautiful art. You can see some of it here on her website and here’s a great article with a quote from Justine about her process. Since it’s Friday and many of us have the weekend to play and practice after a hectic work week, I thought this would be a good time to share German artist and art teacher Simone Bischoff’s line drawing lessons which are reminiscent of Justine’s art, but on a Zentangle®-inspired scale. 2 techniques pas à pas [TanglePatterns.com] By Sandra Strait Sue Palmer of Westerly RI, recently emailed “Do you have any ideas or examples of a twisted ribbon – one that would gradually show the other side of a ribbon – especially if it was looped?”.
I asked Sandra Strait if she had time to respond to Sue’s request and she replied with this great tutorial illustrating not one but two techniques. Dessiner une goutte d'eau [A Tangler's Mind] I recently posted this tile with the Dew Drop tangle enhancer (AKA tanglenhancer) on one of the many Facebook pages featuring Zentangle tiles and artwork.
There was such a positive reaction to these dew drops that I’ve decided to post a tutorial on how to do them. First of all let me explain what a tanglenhancer is. It is a technique which can be added or combined with a tangle to change or enhance it’s appearance. In the case of Dew Drops it gives the appearance of water drops on the surface of the tangle. Here are the steps to reproduce Dew Drops. Using pencil, define where the dew drops will be when drawing your string. Using pen, draw your tangles as usual except stop and start the lines at the edges of the dew drops.
So I thought I’d share how I organize my tangles and the steps for drawing them in case it’s helpful for fellow Zentangle® Zealots. To start with, I use Moleskine® squared notebooks. The paper is acid-free and nice and smooth for drawing with the Sakura Micron Pens. The squared pages provide light guidelines and these help me get more accurate proportions when I draw. Black tiles were always so under-appreciated, but not anymore!
My friend Cathy Boytos was going to give a class on shading on black tiles and asked me to review the ebook early. This is what she wrote after to me, via Facebook: Eni.....for the past hour, I've been studying your book and practicing and I just LOVE this technique!!! I've been doing Zentangle for several years, but I always felt that the black tiles got the least amount of attention and I wasn't quite sure how to give 'em some love. You've done it! This ebook is 58 pages long, including: Detailed step-by-step basic and advanced Glow on the Dark technique;Shading Supplies list; 4 Case Studies;Tangle reference page; Glow on the Dark Cheat Sheets.
