"Polka Dots" Kids Wall Decal (2-Sheets)-FM055-AJV5. {Manic Monday}- Master Bedroom Makeover Continued... I have come to realize that this master bedroom makeover is going to be a step-by-step process dragged out over many weekends.
I envy the bloggers out there that set their mind on a project and, while feeding a gaggle of needy children, maintaining a spotless household and never missing a blog post, manage to bang out an entire room renovation in a measly Saturday afternoon. That, my friends, is not me. Hell, I barely managed to do the laundry this weekend and my husband feeds me. I did, however, manage to finish one more piece of the master bedroom and I'm pretty much stoked with the results. Before I reveal, allow me to preface the project with the statement that I fully expect the quote above our bed to mean absolutely nothing to you guys.

It’s kind of like a makeover, but different. The reason for this make-under is that we will be selling our house soon & we felt like our bedroom before was too taste specific. We wanted to tone down the bedroom & really make it a neutral relaxing bedroom space that would be appealing to potential buyers. Step one of our bedroom makeover was emptying out the room {You can see the details about that post here} The second step to the room makeover is creating a new & very simple headboard for the room after we removed our wood plank headboard. Diy {pallet headboard} And just in time for the weekend.. the long awaited pallet headboard!
I’m excited to (finally) share this project! It’s the biggest project I’ve shared to date. Turning pallets into furniture or decor is nothing new, this I know. Last January, my wish of having a headboard became a reality, using, you guessed it, a pallet (or two…and a couple other supplies)! Thanks to my father in law who occasionally has spare pallets in his warehouse, we were able to make a unique headboard for around $20. Our Supplies: Pallets (we used two pallets, because some of the boards split as I was taking them apart and some were in bad condition). 2x4s for the frame (Two pieces at 66 inches each. Hardware- 4 nuts/bolts/washers (these attach the headboard to the metal bed frame) and a box of screws (to attach the pallet boards to the frame and make the frame.
Pegboard Headboard. Don’t worry I haven’t deemed myself a poet, the title just rhymes by accident, ughm..
Remember my oohing’ and aahing’ over headboards left and right? How to... wallpaper a dresser. The wallpapered dresser in Layla's end of our room I've had a few people ask me how I did this.
I originally didn't post as there was a possibility it'd go in the magazine. It still might, but I can give you rough instructions! It wasn't hard - the trickiest part is probably getting the wallpaper samples. I was lucky enough to have access to scraps through work, but I did use my own as well. Step 1 Take off any handles and remove drawers. Step 2 Paint or stain the cupboard frame if you wish. Step 3 Arrange the wallpaper samples on the floor in a pattern you'd like to replicate on the drawer front. Step 4 Use a cutting mat or chopping board, stanley knife and ruler to cut one neat edge of the wallpaper. Step 5 Firmly press the paper over the drawer, smoothing out any lumps. A cloce-up: bumps and all! Step 6 Repeat with the second piece of paper, only this time make the neat line on the other side so they line up nicely on the drawer. Step 8 Repeat on all drawers. Tutorial: How to make a Fabric Headboard. In my master bedroom, I wanted an extra large headboard that would make a statement. Here are my instructions on how to make a fabric headboard…not just any fabric headboard...you’ll see.
Step 1: Find fabric that you love! I found this fabric at my favorite fabric store called Home Fabrics and Rugs. It cost 5.99 a yard, and I bought 10 yards. (I still have some left over, but we’ll just play it safe and say it cost me $59.00 for the fabric. One of the main reasons I chose this fabric was because it was neutral in color.
Step 2: Measure your space. Go big or go home right!?!? Step 3: Divide your space into squares. Step 4: Buy 2 sheets of thin backer board and cut them PRECISELY the right size. Step 5: Buy some foam and cut it into precisely the right size. Step 6: Cut the fabric. Step 7: Upholster every square. I’m not going to lie, this part was very frustrating. We had to HOT GLUE to fabric onto the boards and then the staples would go through. Step 8.
