If you’ve been researching how to lose weight, you might have stumbled across products like Diet drinks. You’ve probably wondered how they work or more importantly, if they work at all. Diet shakes are a great alternative to a meal, however there are many misconceptions about them. Most people drink them without dieting or exercising properly, therefore they are ineffective. With my own experience with diet shakes, I’ve found the best way to see results is to change the way you eat, and to exercise. Diet shakes are not designed to supply 3 square meals a day, they are meant to be used maybe twice a day maximum. However, no matter which meals you choose to replace with diet shakes there are benefits to each. Breakfast, dinner, lunch, and everything in between there is some unique benefit to using diet shakes instead. Here I will highlight the benefits below.
Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, at least that’s what your mother told you. Studies have confirmed the breakfast is, in fact, the most important meal of the day. However, breakfast seems to be the meal that most people miss. This could be a variety of reasons, however the most popular being, lack of time. The benefit of replacing breakfast with diet shakes is that they are super quick and easy to make. Diet shakes are packed with vitamins and nutrients that will not only feed your body, but also give you a stable form of energy. Breakfast is when you need these vitamins and nutrients the most, so it makes sense to incorporate diet shakes into your breakfast routine. They only take a few minutes to make and they are portable so you can drink it while you are in the car, or on the train. With so many flavors to choose from it’s easy to see why most people choose to replace breakfast with diet shakes.
Lunch
Most people tend to crash during lunch, especially if you didn’t have breakfast. Lunch in particular is where most diets are compromised. You might be busy at work, or you simply just want to fulfill that craving you’ve been thinking about all morning. Either way, diet shakes are great for lunch because they fill you up, leaving little to no room for cravings. You can also beat the 2:30 p.m. feeling of being exhausted as diet shakes have great all natural forms of energy for your body to consume. You will also be less likely to snack on salty or sugary snacks at your desk. You will finish your diet shakes feeling full and refreshed, while the rest of the office is wanting to fall asleep underneath their desk. You will be more productive and finally have the great energy boost you needed to finish your day at work. The best part is that you will no longer feel the need to snack on the car ride home either. Diet shakes make you feel full enough to say no to snacking.
Dinner
Dinner can be tricky. Especially on the commute home. It can be easy to pull into a fast food restaurant and eat your “dinner” the rest of the way home. This is where diets can be completely derailed. Most people have the mentality after work that they worked extremely hard today so they deserve a treat on the way home. While you should be applauded for working hard, your body has different ideas on how to celebrate. When you drink diet shakes for dinner you are curbing these habits and setting yourself up for a successful fitness journey. The goal of a diet is not to just simply lose weight, but to keep it off in the long run. When you just eat fast food on the way home you’ll also be less likely to hit the gym after work if you like to work out during the evening like I do. If you have commitments after you get home from work, diet shakes are a great on-the-go option for you to have while you are fulfilling those commitments.
Final Thoughts
It should be noted that diet shakes should never replace all three of these meals at the same time. I recommend replacing 1 meal with diet shakes a day. It’s still important for you to have sit down meals. But diet shakes give you the flexibility you need to get through the day while staying true to your diet.
