The Hope of Salvation for Infants Who Die Without Being Baptised. The International Theological Commission has studied the question of the fate of un-baptised infants, bearing in mind the principle of the “hierarchy of truths” and the other theological principles of the universal salvific will of God, the unicity and insuperability of the mediation of Christ, the sacramentality of the Church in the order of salvation, and the reality of Original Sin. In the contemporary context of cultural relativism and religious pluralism the number of non-baptized infants has grown considerably, and therefore the reflection on the possibility of salvation for these infants has become urgent. The Church is conscious that this salvation is attainable only in Christ through the Spirit. But the Church, as mother and teacher, cannot fail to reflect upon the fate of all men, created in the image of God, and in a more particular way on the fate of the weakest members of the human family and those who are not yet able to use their reason and freedom.

(Vatican Radio) Below we publish the texts of the reports presented for consideration in the drafting of the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops’ final document or Relatio synodi from the English language Working Groups. Relatio - Circulus Anglicus "A" Moderator: Em.mo Card. Raymond Leo BURKE Relator: S.E. Mons. John Atcherley DEW I present this report of behalf of the English speaking group Anglicus "A".

The group has suggested a number of amendments to the RELATIO POST DISCEPTATIONEM, some are major amendments and others quite small, nevertheless they have significant meaning attached to them. We believed that there needed to be a new introduction to the Relatio. We agreed that this is to be a pastoral document, as has been expressed as the wish of the Synod, a document which speaks to people about the often critical issues which confront families today.

We referred to the methodology used as appearing to be based on the SEE, JUDGE, ACT principles, but in this case it was LISTEN, JUDGE, ACT. SYNOD-USCOUPLE Oct-7-2014 (570 words) With photo. xxxi U.S. couple at synod calls for 'robust, creative' family programs By Cindy WoodenCatholic News Service VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- Existing diocesan programs and Catholic organizations aimed at helping Catholic families fulfill their vocation clearly are not strong enough to meet modern needs, a Wisconsin couple told the Synod of Bishops. "We must develop more robust and creative methods to share the fundamental truth that marriage is a divine gift from God, rather than merely a man-made institution," Alice Heinzen told the synod Oct. 7, reading a speech she and her husband, Jeff, wrote.

The Heinzens, from the Diocese of La Crosse, were named synod auditors by Pope Francis and were chosen to introduce the work of the synod's afternoon discussion on pastoral programs designed to meet the challenges facing families. Presenting marriage as a vocation and the immediate preparation of couples for marriage are not enough, she said. Bishop Enrico SOLMI of Parma. Diocese of Parma, Italy. How to Address Church Officials. FATHER WILLIAM SAUNDERS A proper etiquette does exist for how we address our Church leaders. As a point of courtesy, all Catholics should be familiar with these forms of address. Even though we may live in an increasingly informal world, such good formalities help to make us respectful of proper authority. So lets start at the top — the Pope. A person would greet Pope John Paul II as "Your Holiness," "Most Holy Father," or "Holy Father. " A letter written to him would be addressed, "His Holiness, Pope John Paul II," with the salutation, "Your Holiness" or "Most Holy Father.

" Next in the hierarchy comes the Cardinal. Lately, some people will reverse the word order, saying, "Cardinal William Keeler" instead of "William Cardinal Keeler. " Another interesting diversion for us concerns a Patriarch. Both an Archbishop and a Bishop would be greeted as "Your Excellency" or "Your Grace" (again very British). A Monsignor would be greeted as "Monsignor. " Finally, we come to the Priest.
