Earth Spirit. "Stencils" are this month's challenge theme over at The Mirror Crack'd and I loved their challenge right away as I am a true stencil girl from the heart ;) The makes of their DT were really inspiring and made me want to "stencil somethin'" right away....luckily I had bought a lovely Dina Wakley stencil at a sale recently and was burning to use it so this was the perfect occasion and impulse!
I also bought some 4x6 Project Life Journaling Cards to use as a substrate for some quick and rather playful projects....they are larger than ATCs (Artist Trading Cards, which I love to do, but sometimes find them too small) and definitely something between ATC and Art Journal...so combining two kinds of projects I really like! Frosty Morning. Hello, Friends!
I'm one lucky girl who has "escaped" to sunny California for a while but I know perfectly well how dreary January can be... So today, we have our lovely Elena who used her magic to show us that cold can be beautiful and inspiring! :) Old is New or Out is In. It is time for a new challenge at Anything but a card blog, this time is Old is New.
The one who follows my blog could read the last week that I had one word to sum up the last year, or old year if you like it, and I found that I still need to continue with that same word in the new year as well. So old year out and new year in, word stays and it is: dare. Saturday Step by Step - Tarnished Brass. Hi everyone and welcome!
Jenny reporting for duty with the first Saturday Step by Step of 2015 here at Frilly and Funkie. Remember, every two weeks one of the Design Team will share a new tutorial with you so make sure you keep a note of that in your crafting diaries. It's always a challenge to come up with new ideas but I'm thrilled with how this one turned out and hope you will enjoy it too. So let's get started (you can click on the photos to get a close up view)... I cut a tag shape and some letters and glued them firmly in place with Multi Medium Matte (the Collage Glue Stick will also work). Apply a swipe of Barn Door and Black Soot Distress Paints to your craft mat. Spritz more water over the surface to encourage the paints to bleed together. Art Recipe Wednesday: Move Me - texture and colours. Hi again my dear friends, I hope you had fabulous Christmas Time, filled with joy, love and relax.
It is the last day of 2014 and I hope the next year will me far better for you than this one! Today - after a short break I'm back with Art Recipe Wednesday post, hoping it will give you some inspiration and push you into creativity after the Holiday ;) Project I've made for you is great both for beginners and those of you who are more advanced - especially if you'd like to try something "lighter", more "crazy artistic" and the idea of combining colours and textures with a lot of white space - enjoy! As you can see my main source of inspiration here was colourful, soft and fluffy yarn I got from one of my students as a gift ages ago.

I'll give this to Tom for Valentines...but he has to give it back so it can go into a gallery. You see... a group of local artists will be displaying their pieces in a gallery showing at the end of March in a downtown Chicago loft. This group is called the Local Hob Nob, started by students at Somonauk High School. In the meantime... here's how the process starts... Then I start cutting or tearing paper affixing them to the canvas with Modge Podge or other gel medium. Mixed Media Magic... - Prima.

I'm sorry, I know it's a bit early but I found this adorable witch's cat picture and just had to go with it.
It also gave me a great excuse to put my new Tim Holtz Dies into action. I started this canvas in a rather back to front way, as I started work on the die cut elements before the background. This is how the background looked before I painted and inked it.... I started by applying some torn book pages, to a 7x9 canvas.
