It can even recreate traditional “pose-to-pose” animation using step(). But CSS has traditionally come up against hard limits when trying to move elements along a curved or complex path. Derived from technology that has been in SVG for a decade, the new Motion Path specification allows elements to follow curving, pre-plotted paths in native HTML and CSS, with some assistance from SVG. At the time of writing, CSS motion path is only supported in Chrome 46+ and Opera 33; in order to see the demos you’ll need to ensure that your browser is updated to the latest version. (I discuss alternatives and future adoptions at the end of this article).

Make a Flipbook with Pure CSS

As designers working on responsive websites, we all grab the edge of our browser window and shrink it down to see how designs change and collapse. We thought it would be cool to add a bit of whimsy to this common interaction, or at least a little surprise and delight. We call it the CSS Flipbook! Using some Sass and a tiny bit of HTML we recreate the feel of a flipbook. Grab the edge of your browser window and pull it back and forth for a nifty little animation, no JS necessary! Check out the example in the Playground, download the code and start having some fun. Popmotion - JavaScript animation, physics and input tracking.

Scroll Drawing

It's a clever trick where you use dashed lines for the stroke, but the gap in the dash is so long it covers the entire path. Then you can move it such that it covers the entire path again, which makes it appear as if it's drawing itself. Using a bit of JavaScript, we can get a little fancier, drawing the shape to completion as page is scrolled to the bottom. Demo Step 1: Get a <path> It has to be a <path>. In my demo here, I just copy-and-pasted the shape right out of Illustrator. Give the path an ID if it doesn't have one: Joseph a avoué, Maison de détail - Gabrielle Aries.
