Trained French dogs that can detect COVID-19. PARIS: 10, JUNE, 2020: As many countries begin to emerge from lockdown and take the first tentative steps toward a return to normality after the coronavirus crisis, an unusual experiment is under way in France and Lebanon.
Researchers have been testing whether 20 Belgian malinois dogs can be trained to detect the coronavirus disease, COVID-19, in humans. The results so far suggest that they can, with a very high degree of accuracy. Dr. Riad Sarkis, a Lebanese digestive surgery surgeon at the French St Joseph University in Beirut, is working on the study with experts from the National Veterinary School of Alfort in France (ENVA), led by chief veterinarian Dominique Grandjean, and the Regional Health Agency in Ajaccio, Corsica. Grandjean said the idea of training dogs to detect COVID-19 originated in Nosais, a program that has been running at ENVA for 18 months which trains the animals to detect colon cancer, Parkinson’s disease and bladder cancer. "IBM no longer offers general purpose IBM facial recognition or analysis software," wrote Arvind Krishna.

New York: 08, May, 2020: An American news channel has said it had obtained email from Elon Musk asking staff to treat Starship as the “top SpaceX priority,” pushing them to “dramatically and immediately” speed up progress on the super-heavy rocket.

It would not only have enough power for space tourism and long-distance trips, but represent a truly reusable rocket with fast turnaround times that make spaceflight more accessible. The rocket represents the future of the company — the string of explosions and other setbacks have effectively set back the company’s broader ambitions. Washington: 7, June, 2020: Can your Fitbit or Apple Watch detect a coronavirus infection before the onset of symptoms?
Researchers are increasingly looking at these devices and other such wearables as a possible early warning system for the deadly virus. Last month, scientists at the West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute said they had created a digital platform that can detect COVID-19 symptoms up to three days before they show up using the Oura ring, a wearable fitness and activity tracker. An app developed by the researchers uses artificial intelligence to forecast the onset of COVID-19 related symptoms such as fever, coughing, breathing difficulties and fatigue, with over 90 percent accuracy, according to the university.
The researchers said the system could offer clues of infection in people not yet showing symptoms -- helping address one of the problems in detection and containment of the deadly outbreak.
