On Saturday of the nice weather President's day holiday, I saw about 12 groups of hikers and 6 tents in the first 4 miles.
So, I think this makes a pretty good winter hike. I didn't see any boaters, but I know they were there because a saw a couple people on the other side of the river that had to be boaters. The trail follows along the river, sometimes at river level and sometimes as high as 200 feet above it: You get great views down to the river: The trail is in good shape. After about mile 4, there were a couple trees across the trail, easily walked around: At about mile 5, there was a washout where you had to take a couple steps down into a gully, two steps rock hopping across creek, and 2 steps back up the other bank.
