The Battle for Lion’s Arch Lion’s Arch has been battered and razed, but as long as there are those who’ll take up arms for our city, it will not be beaten! Scarlet and her armies—the Aetherblades, the Molten Alliance, and the Toxic Alliance—may have pushed us out of our city, but now the winds have blown her vile miasma out to sea.
Lion’s Arch belongs to all Tyrians. It’s time to regroup and rally, liberate our besieged city, and take the fight to Scarlet to end her menace. Remember this day, for this battle will be worthy of legend! —Captain Magnus the Bloody-Handed Regrouping and Rallying While Lion’s Arch is occupied by enemy forces, survivors have established refugee camps near each of the order headquarters. Liberating Our Besieged City Help the Lionguard reestablish a foothold near the three city entrances at Trader’s Forum, Postern Ward, and Fort Marriner.
Throughout the city, miasma canisters are still guarded by Scarlet’s armies. Additionally, completing the “This Is My City!” World vs. World PvP - Guild Wars 2 Video - PC. Guild Wars 2 Preview • Page 3 • Previews. Eurogamer: You needed a minimum of 10 people to begin the boss battle against Tequatl the Sunless. What's the largest minimum player requirement an event in Guild Wars 2 has? Colin Johanson: Most of those scale down to a single player in difficulty. And some of them, like the giant boss battles, take about two groups or 10 people to do it at a minimum. That is, right now, the intended largest minimum size, about 10 people. I don't think we'd want to do anything bigger than that. Eurogamer: What's the most people you can have doing a dynamic event?
Colin Johanson: It depends. If you're fighting a giant dragon, certainly 100 players or more can participate, and the boss would recognise that and scale to match. Eurogamer: Is there any protection against lots of rag-tag people showing up and making, by virtue of it scaling, a dynamic event too hard? Colin Johanson: The intent is the balance will be the same regardless of the amount of players. Colin Johanson: Correct. Colin Johanson. Guild Wars 2: WTF No Subscription Fee? The Tao of Arenanet - General Discussion - Guild Wars 2 Forums at MMORPG. The Tao of Arenanet - The Design Philosophy of Guild Wars 2 or Where Exactly Is All This Innovation? Or Why Are Some People Looking Forward To GW2, But I'm Not?
An essay in many parts, but mostly pertaining to the design philosophies driving Guild Wars 2, how and why they are innovative, the game features they affect, and why this means that Meowhead is totally hyped for this game while some people just don't see why. First off, a warning. 1. How are they planning on doing this? This one is pretty obvious. Why is this innovative? Because it's never been done before. Why do I believe Arenanet can deliver? Well, they can definitely price the game any way they want, and they've already expended AAA level resources making the game. Why your mileage may vary. Some people dislike the idea of B2P. Why I think you should give it a chance anyway. The nice thing about a cash shop, is you only have to buy what you want. 2. Everybody has their own, seperate loot drop from monsters, so no rolling over loot. [GW2] Just Play, Quests as Hearts | Kill Ten Rats. There’s a pretty good thread over at MMORPG.com about The Tao of ArenaNet.
It’s a nicely done, if a bit wordy, fan-made response to what the heck ArenaNet is doing. They are doing things different. No more quests is a huge one, yet their essence remains. Walk this way. Since I am still waiting to play Guild Wars 2 (still, ArenaNet, still), I’ve been playing around my with my old flame, Lord of the Rings Online. It’s a good ol’ vanilla MMO with its own twists like World of Warcraft or Rift (possibly the new Star Wars MMO, which I haven’t played enough to include here). Except it’s not perfect because in creating this hitlist of monsters and boar specials, quests become selfishly personal. A lot of emphasis, even here, has been placed on events in Guild Wars 2 replacing quests because they are objective. You know that time in ye good ol’ MMO you were about to run by some poor sap overwhelmed by a handful of orcs, and you joined in the fray instead. And, the best part. Thanks, Anthony!
