Unfortunately the lens does not seem to optimized for the Sony filter stack, so how good a performer is this lens when used on a Sony camera? Let us find out in this review! Continue reading Review: TTArtisan 35mm 1.4 Fisheye lenses are not exactly hugely popular and the fact that we haven’t seen a fullframe fisheye lens designed for mirrorless yet – in more than 60 years of the Leica-M system we haven’t seen a single one – only supports this.

Photography in Malaysia. MINOLTA Manual Lens List. At the Photokina in September of 1972 Minolta presented a new milestone camera: The X-1, which was marketed as XK in USA and Canada and XM in Europe and elsewhere. With this new professional grade auto exposure camera, a brand new and modern lens line was introduced. The new lenses now featured a rubberized focussing grip and since the upcoming cameras had a finder read out of the aperture, the aperture ring was black. This was a biggest change in the design of the Minolta lenses so far, and it was kept until the end.
Lenses for the north american market got the appendix '-X' right after the ROKKOR name on the front marking, colored in bright orange: MINOLTA LENS MADE IN JAPAN MC TELE ROKKOR-X PF 1:2.8 f=135mm 1234567 Lenses with 52mm filter thread became 55mm and now the standard lenses got the focal length marking on the barrel, too. Let's make one thing perfectly clear. Fixed focal length lenses produce better results than zoom lenses -- all things being equal. And it makes sense. With a fixed focal length lens, the light has to pass through 8 or 10 glass-to-air surfaces, but with zoom lenses this can increase to 28 or 30 glass-to-air surfaces! And each glass-to-air surface degrades the image to some extent. If you are a landscape photographer who needs to cut down on weight and size, such as a backpacker, one of these Minolta wide-angle zooms might be just the ticket.
Minolta also made other zoom lenses in the wide-angle zoom and normal-to-tele zoom range that you might want to consider. All of Minolta's wide-to-tele zoom lenses are MD optics meaning they will work on any Minolta SLR camera. The preset version has neither mechanisms for the actuation of aperture nor a largest aperture coupling between camera body and lens – with this lens, on all bodies with through-the-lens (TTL) metering, the metering must be done in stopped-down mode and the aperture has to be set manually on the lens prior to exposure. 28 mm became a very wide-spread standard focal length. Variations of the lens do exist. The lens, most so in the later 5 element variations, is quite small and light-weight, therefore well suited for travel photography. Variations Lens data. Mechanical Innovations Optical Innovations Nikon Lens Compatibility 23 September 2007 Nikon System Compatibility 05 September 2007 August 2012 Nikon Reviews Nikon Lenses All Reviews Introduction Nikon is the leader when it comes to compatibility among cameras and lenses of different decades.
The key is to understand Nikon's alphabet soup. The only two gotchas in 50 years have been in 1986, when AF lenses lost the prong needed to couple to pre-1977 cameras. Some Nikon designations are mechanical, like F, AI, and AF; while others are optical, like ED and IF. Mechanical History F (also called pre-AI and non-AI): 1959 top Nikon Nikkor-H 50mm f/2.

Only with the adoption of the 80-200 f/2.8 zoom lens by most working professionals around 1990 has the 105 f/2.5 fallen out of most photographers' bags. Compatibility intro top Of course this is a manual-focus only lens. This 105 2.5 has come in both traditional Nikon F mount (1959-1976) and Automatic Indexing AI and AI-s mount (1977-2005).
It it's AI, AI-s or converted to AI, it works great with most Nikon cameras, 35mm and digital. Imaging | NIKKOR - The Thousand and One Nights. Lens Evaluations. Lens Survey And Subjective Evaluations By Bjørn Rørslett IntroductionDuring my many years conducting Nature and Scientific photography, I have had the opportunity to use a veritable arsenal of 35 mm and large-format lenses. Many of these I do own personally, a current total of some 100 lenses. Not all lenses are created equal, that's for sure.
Price is a putative indication of optical quality, but can equally well be misleading. People have repeatedly asked me to provide an overview of these and other lenses to show their image-producing potential. The final verdict of any lens must come from using it for taking pictures. Because I aim to publish my photos, I am quite concerned about optical quality of the equipment I use, and test each and every lens before it is put to actual use. My Rating Criteria are as follows: It should be kept in mind that these ratings are purely subjective. An issue frequently left out from reviews is the variation found in optical products.
Most numerous are Sony, Minolta, Konica Minolta, Sigma,Tamron, along with the Olympus and Panasonic 4/3 system. I review all lenses thoroughly after extensive field use. Many of the lenses below are owned by me, though some are rented or purchased on eBay and then sold. I use the image crops in the reviews to back up my written results, but don't take these as absolutes.
I sometimes have to go to extremes to make a lens reveal its minor faults, you should consider this, and how you intend to use the lens before making a purchasing decision. The conclusion at the end of the review will let you know what I think about the use, optical performance and value of that particular lens.
Unless otherwise noted; all tests for Sony mount lenses were done using the Sony 12.2mp A700, Sony 16.2mp A580, Sony 24mp A77, and the Sony 24.6mp A900 for full frame results. While the Minolta cameras are a real pleasure to use, the ream gems of the Minolta manual focus system are the lenses. With outstanding contrast and sublime "bokeh" these lenses can be used to create extraordinary photographs.
Additionally, the build quality of many of these lenses is significantly better than that available today from most manufacturers, and they have no electronics to fail, or motors to wear out. As a result you can expect to obtain the same great performance from your Minolta manual focus lens for many years to come. One of the advantages for photographers interested in building a Minolta manual focus system is that due to the introduction of auto-focus, and more recently digital cameras, the lenses have fallen significantly in price. Lenses like the 135mm f/2.8 and 200mm f/4 regularly sell for under US$80 on ebay, and are among the sharpest lenses available for any camera system. Minolta Wide Angle Lenses.
