BUTTERVILLE is a project I've wanted to do for a long time.
The name itself comes from Butterville Rd. in New Paltz, NY. Since many of these songs are dreamy, wistful pieces that reflect my experiences from living in Upstate NY, the Title seemed to fit. I wrote the first sketches for BUTTERVILLE in 2012, and finished most of the songs while listening to demo recordings on long car-rides. Most of the songs started as improvised sessions with drummer Kyle Hutchins, and were later melded into what they are today. These songs were first performed as "Ben Carr and Friends" in 2013. I would like to thank my family, all of my roommates at The Roemhild, Drew of the Drew, Matt Hsiung, Jerry Teters, Allegra Herrera, the Mad Satta crew, and lastly the rest of Butterville for being such amazing friends and musicians.

I am so honored to share this music with you all. "Embraced" has taken inspirations from so many people and places. Almost every song on this album has a collaborative musical element. This album is 12 song journey through sound that I will describe as world, downtempo, funky, sultry, sensual, heart-centered, juicy, yumminess. As I hope all of my albums will have a different (yet familiar) feel, "Embraced" is my first with this many varied collaborators. A little story about how I put together this album. My Forest Queen.
