This bright little number is up-cycled from a merino sweater and a pretty paisley cotton top. I love orange (my bridesmaid wore orange) and this combination, with lavender paisley and cherry red zip, just makes my heart skip. My box bag is fully lined, has a handle, a zip pull tab and, most importantly to me, NO RAW EDGES INSIDE! Anyway, let's get started with yours. You'll need: Fabric for the exterior of your bag, lining, interfacing, cotton and a zip. My orange bag is 23cm (9") long, 10cm (4") wide and 10cm (4") deep, perfect for a small to medium sized knitting/crocheting project. But, you could make your box bag any size you like. See how the zip curves down the sides? Measure how long you want your bag to be, and how deep, and add these numbers together. My zip was 34cm (13.5") long, from zip pull, to the tab at the bottom. So, my friend had her birthday party the other night, and I decided to make her a wallet as a gift out of some cute comic strip fabric that I snagged from my mom...according to her, a friend gave it to her when my older brother was born - wow, that stuff is old. Ok so I am not a seamstress by any means, I got my first sewing machine for Christmas last year so sewing for me is a trial and error sort of thing. So I cannot give you a pattern for this bag. However I can tell you how to print on canvas! Which is so fun and the possibilities are endless! So to prepare your canvas to run it through the printer all you have to do is iron the glossy side of the freezer paper to the canvas or fabric. After you have printed you can spray the fabric with scotch guard to give it protection and to keep the ink from rubbing off the fabric. I cut the illustration canvas in half, a piece for the front and back. Vinyl front zipper pouch. Today's project involves more clear vinyl. Hurray!
