Thumb War - Design Iteration Combat Simulation. THUMB WAR : Design Iteration Combat Simulation by Paul Richards Updated 07/04/09 Ten-hut, fellow concept grunts! The following text is a condensed adaptation of some recent workshops I've spoken at on the theory/practice of thumbnailing, and is not a verbatim transcript. Oorah! Well, of course I could lol, but the thing is you need a bit more PS knowledge than for example for a shirt. For jeans I need to explain how to make a jeans texture, the seams and stitches, pockets, waistband, buttons, wrinkles, shading and so on… and if i would explain this all in one tutorial, well I would sit here for a month and the tutorial would still not be finished (if you don’t believe me I think you will at the end of this tutorial :) ) So I decided to explain you some basics in making jeans.

When used correctly, color can change the mood of the image, or impact the story. It can also draw the viewers eyes to a focal element. In the image below, digital colors are used effectively to focus your attention on the tube. And the controlled color palette also helps keep the image calm. At 20% saturation, red turns into a fleshy pink. And at 20% value, red becomes a dark muddy brown. “Yeah, but why is this important?” Example of an overly saturated scene By forcing strong saturated colors on the viewer, you give them no where for their eyes to rest. Corrected scene Not to say that saturation is bad though. Maxfield Parrish – Salzkarawane am toten meer (from ArtRenewal.org) The striking red mountains catch your eye immediately. 1.
