China Achieves World Leadership in AI. AI Mimics Human Brain Function. AI Passes the Turing Test. As the capabilities of artificial intelligence increase, and as technology improves at an exponential rate Kurzweil re-affirms his predictions Most people will know of, or at least heard of, Ray Kurzweil, Google’s famed Director of Engineering, and one of the world’s leading futurists.

AI Passes the Turing Test

He’s been surveying and forecasting the technology scene for longer than most of us have been alive – speaking of which he’s currently trying to live forever, and one of his ambitions is to bring his long dead father back to life as an avatar – everyone’s got to have a hobby. Earlier this week at the SXSW conference in Austin, Texas he caused a commotion by announcing two things. Firstly that he thinks artificial intelligence (AI) will pass a Turing Test in 2029, and secondly that he’s set 2045 as the date when we’ll finally realise the Singularity, the point at which we see runaway technological growth that result in unfathomable changes to human civilization. THE PERFORMANCE of humans’ puny brains will be outmatched by computers within just 13 years, billionaire Elon Musk has claimed.

The Tesla and SpaceX founder said that artificial intelligence will beat us at just about everything by 2030. AP:Associated Press He made the comments on Twitter, where he was responding to a new study which claims our race will be overtaken by 2060. “Probably closer to 2030 to 2040 in my opinion,” he wrote. AI Radically Changes Our Work Life. A 100-year project conceived by Microsoft Research’s Eric Horvitz to trace the impacts of artificial intelligence has issued its first report: a 28,000-word analysis looking at how AI technologies will affect urban life in 2030.

AI Radically Changes Our Work Life

The bottom line? Put away those “Terminator” nightmares of a robot uprising, at least for the next 15 years – but get ready for technological disruptions that will make life a lot easier for many of us while forcing some of us out of our current jobs. That assessment comes from Stanford University’s One Hundred Year Study on Artificial Intelligence, or AI100, which is Horvitz’s brainchild. Horvitz, a Stanford alumnus, is a former president of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and the managing director of Microsoft Research’s Redmond lab. Horvitz and his wife, Mary, created the AI100 endowment with the aim of monitoring AI’s development and effects over the coming century. AI Implants Allow Us to Control Our Homes via Thought.
