Pirates Expose Their Download Habits Through Trakt. Trakt is a great service that allows people to track their TV-show and movie viewing habits through Popcorn Time, XBMC and other popular platforms.
There's one problem though. Trakt is heavily used by pirates who may not realize that they're broadcasting their downloading habits to the rest of the world, copyright holders included. With over a quarter million users Trakt is one of the most popular communities for movie and TV fans. The service allows users to keep track of the videos they watch throughout the week, either manually or automatically via media players such as VLC, XBMC and Popcorn Time. Trakt processes and stores downloading habits so its users can keep track of what they’re watching. Trakt appears to be relatively popular among pirates. For example, at the time of writing there were several Trakt users watching the latest box-office hit “Interstellar” via XBMC and Infuse. Italy Orders Blockade of Three More Torrent Sites. A telecoms administrative body has ordered a fresh torrent site blockade in Italy.
Following decisions against four torrent sites last month, the AGCOM regulator says that three more torrent indexes must now be banned by the country's ISPs. After coming under intense criticism, this year Italy was removed from the Watch List in the USTR’s Special 301 Report. Part of the formula for that achievement was to be found in telecoms regulator AGCOM. Instead of legislating against piracy, the Italian government gave the watchdog the power to deal with infringement, up to and including the removal of infringing content and even the blocking of allegedly copyright-infringing domains.
In May and following complaints from the entertainment industry, AGCOM ordered the blocking of four torrent sites – LimeTorrents, TorrentDownload.ws, Torrentz.pro and TorrentDownloads.me. Instagram seeks right to sell access to photos to advertisers. Facebook's photo-sharing site Instagram has updated its privacy policy giving it the right to sell users' photos to advertisers without notification.
Unless users delete their Instagram accounts by a deadline of 16 January, they cannot opt out. The changes also mean Instagram can share information about its users with Facebook, its parent company, as well as other affiliates and advertisers. The move riled social media users, with one likening it to a "suicide note". The new policies follow Facebook's record $1bn (£616m; 758 euro) acquisition of Instagram in April. Facebook's vice-president of global marketing solutions Carolyn Everson earlier this month had said: "Eventually we'll figure out a way to monetise Instagram.
CraftStudio.
