Coffee Farmers Sue Monsanto for Hiding Cancer-Causing Impact of Glyphosate. Monsanto Co. is facing another lawsuit alleging that exposure to glyphosate, the primary ingredient in the company’s flagship product Roundup, causes cancer.
Christine and Kenneth Sheppard, the former owners of Dragon’s Lair Kona Coffee Farm in Honaunau, Hawaii, have accused the multinational agribusiness of falsely masking the carcinogenic risks of glyphosate and is responsible for causing the woman’s cancer, non-Hodgkins lymphoma, the Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported. The civil suit, Sheppard et al v. Monsanto Company, was filed Feb. 2 in U.S. District Court in Honolulu by the Miller Firm of Orange, Virgina and Honolulu attorney Brian K. Mackintosh on behalf of the husband-and-wife duo. The plaintiffs seek unspecified monetary damages, including compensatory damages, punitive damages and attorneys’ fees and court costs.
According to the complaint, Christine Sheppard had used Roundup on her commercial coffee farm in Hawaii in or around 1995 and continued to use the herbicide until 2004. GMO Seralini – Seralini’s team wins defamation and forgery court cases on GMO and pesticide research. On 25 November 2015, the High Court of Paris indicted Marc Fellous, former chairman of France’s Biomolecular Engineering Commission, for “forgery” and “the use of forgery”, in a libel trial that he lost to Prof Gilles-Eric Séralini.
The Biomolecular Engineering Commission has authorised many GM crops for consumption. The details of the case have not yet been publicly released but a source close to the case told GMWatch that Fellous had used or copied the signature of a scientist without his agreement to argue that Séralini and his co-researchers were wrong in their reassessment of Monsanto studies. The Séralini team’s re-assessment reported finding signs of toxicity in the raw data from Monsanto’s own rat feeding studies with GM maize.
The sentence against Fellous has not yet been passed and is expected in June 2016. Defamation case The latest ruling marks a second court victory for Séralini’s team. Séralini, his team, and CRIIGEN challenged this allegation in a defamation lawsuit. Monsanto Class Action. Monsanto Roundup Class Action. Major Lawsuit Against Monsanto Completely Blacked out by Media. Christina Sarich July 28, 2015 (NATURALSOCIETY) What happens when one courageous attorney and a few citizens try to take down Monsanto?
The MSM doesn’t cover it, for starters. Efforts to publicize a class action lawsuit against Monsanto for false advertising it’s best-selling herbicide Roundup filed in Los Angeles County Court on April 20, 2015 have been rejected by almost every mainstream media outlet. It’s no different than Fox, NBC, CNN, or ABC refusing to cover the DARK ACT which would give Monsanto legal immunity and disallow states to demand GMO labeling.
You would think that coverage of something the whole world wants to see – the first step toward the successful downfall of Monsanto –would be a hot news item; a newsworthy tidbit that every paper, radio station, and blog would want to spread across their pages with double bold headlines. Why The Netherlands Just Banned Monsanto’s Glyphosate-Based Herbicides. The Netherlands has just become the latest country, following Russia, Mexico, and many others, to say no to Monsanto.
The sale and use of glyphosate-based herbicides (the most commonly used herbicides in the world) has just been banned for non-commercial use in the country, effective later this year. This means that people will no longer be able to spray RoundUp on their lawns and gardens and will instead have to find another (hopefully more natural) means of pest control.
This is definitely a step in the right direction. The move comes as no surprise, considering that the number of countries around the world who are choosing to ban this product is growing at an exponential rate. Bans and restrictions are being implemented due to the fact that glyphosate (the main ingredient in RoundUp) has been directly linked to several major health issues, including: birth defects, nervous system damage, Alzheimers, Parkinson’s, various forms of cancer, and kidney failure. Sources Used: More Evidence For Monsanto’s Role In The Ukrainian Coup? Was it just a strange coincidence that Ukraine's European deal allowed Monsanto's takeover of the country?
More evidence has emerged that last year’s Ukrainian coup could have been a deliberate attempt by the USA to takeover the country’s agricultural industry, which up until that point was anti-GMO and had strict laws prohibiting private sector land ownership. Ukraine is known as ‘the breadbasket of Europe’ for its rich soil and high exports of corn and wheat.
Those crops will now be GMO, thanks to the IMF and World Bank, who forced Ukraine into changing their laws to allow Monsanto to move in with a $17bn loan. The world’s worst corp now has an office in Ukraine and has made landgrabs in the country, thanks to a hidden clause in the Europe/Ukraine deal supporting bio-technology. The people of Europe (and even Ukraine) are largely unaware of this secret agreement, which will change the face of European agriculture forever. More like this: Farmers Rise Up Against Monsanto.
