OHMIKY's cache page. One of my pasttimes these days is caching - that is using a Global Positioning System receiver (GPSr) to look for hidden packages - think of it as a kind of electronically-assisted treasure hunt.
Using the handle OHMIKY (for OHio, MIchigan, and KentuckY), I currently have several caches hidden around the Highland County, Ohio area. For this one, though, I thought maybe I'd offer some assistance to fellow puzzle solvers by sharing some of the tools and tricks that I use to solve other geocaching puzzles.
These tools and ideas may or may not be of any help to you, depending upon what types of puzzles you work on and whether or not you already have techniques like these (or better ones). More experienced puzzle cachers may find this really boring - sorry in advance. Don't expect to be able to solve a lot of four- and five-star puzzles after going through this exercize, but the two- and three-star puzzles should start to fall before you if you use some of the tools and techniques we will go through. For a much more extensive lesson on puzzle caches, I would recommend the Puzzle Solving 101 series, although you have to travel to Florida to actually find the caches (which might be a good excuse for a trip next February).
