How language changes over time. Walk and talk med elever. Idag under engelsklektionen gick vi ut på gården och hade ”Walk and talk” i ca 30 min.
Eleverna fick själva göra gruppindelningen utifrån ”hitta någon du känner dig trygg att prata engelska tillsammans med”. De delade upp sig i par eller i grupper om 3. Jag har haft eleverna i flera år nu och vet att de kan göra denna indelning under eget ansvar men detta måste du som lärare kanske styra upp så att alla hittar en kamrat. Det var samma grupper under hela passet men samtalsinnehållet varierade. Eleverna fick ett ämne att samtala om av mig som de diskuterade under en promenad. Walk and talk är en perfekt uppgift som tränar flera olika förmågor i engelska samtidigt som aktuella ämnen kan tas upp.

Användningsområden Att lära sig verbpartiklar tycker jag påminner lite om att lära sig propositioner eftersom dessa är svåra att lära sig på ett nytt språk för att de ofta inte följer ett speciellt mönster.
Exempel på verbpartiklar på svenska är ”titta på” och ”se efter” med betoningen på det sista ordet. I ”Phrasal Verbs Machine” lär man sig verbpartiklarnas fraser med hjälp av korta animerade filmer. Anledningen till att appen kallas maskin är för att den liknar en gammaldags verkstadsmaskin. I bakgrunden spelas också gammaldags pianomusik och den animerad filmen innehåller figurer som ser ut att komma från början av 1900-talet. Appen har ett visningsläge. Appen har också ett träningsläge där det omvända sker. Det är inte alltid lätt att visa något utan tal eller skrift men jag tycker att animationerna är förvånansvärt bra och lättförståeliga.

The fall Jack-O-Lantern activity requires students to use the grid code and crayons or markers to create a jack-o-lantern on a blank 9x9 grid. The use of letters on the horizontal axis and numbers on the vertical axis introduces young students to coordinate pairs without the confusion of the standard (h,v) format. Notice that it is important that elementary students become accustomed to listing the horizontal coordinate first as this will transfer to the Cartesian coordinates they will use in later grades.
