Joining Granny Squares. When I join my Granny Squares together I always choose to crochet them rather than stitch them.
Its just the way that appeals to me, although many of my hooking buddies prefer the stitching method. IMG_1333. Flower Hexagon Granny How-To. In my search for a Granny Hexagon to make blankets for my girls, I just couldn’t find one that I really LOVED.
Then I realized that there were some gorgeous crocheted flowers with six sides, and I could make a hex from one of those. So this pattern was born. I will do my best to teach it to you. ETA: I have had many questions about what yarn I used. It is Lion Brand Cotton Ease, and 3 years later, it is still holding up very nicely! Wiggle It Crochet Trivet and Dishcloth Set. It’s popping up on Pinterest and Ravelry, in rugs and afghan squares. Usually worked in squares and rectangles, with a base mesh and ruffles worked on top, it’s got a great 3D big pop look. Granny Blanket Edging. When I made my Summer Garden granny square throw (pictured above), I felt it needed a good edging to finish it off.
Something that would pull the whole thing together and give it that final flourish. And as is quite often the case, I ended up designing my own edging after being unable to find anything suitable in books or on the internet. This edging is made in three rounds :: two rounds of chain loops, followed by a final round of shell/scallops, and is very easily worked around any size of granny square. I'm writing the pattern in UK terms, the stitches as follows :: sl st :: insert hook, yarn over, pull the loop back through the stitch, then straight through the loop on your hook. LW3094_0. FC00932. Crochet Crochet Hexagon Pattern - Join As You GoPetals to Picots. Last week I shared with you my pattern for making granny hexagons.
Now let’s get to work joining them. I prefer using the the join as you go (JAYGO) method. In the JAYGO method, you join the crochet hexagons while working the final round of the pattern. Not only is it easy, but it also creates this beautiful design between your motifs! To begin, work this round on your first hexagon only: Round 4: Join cream color in in the last ch-sp made, ch 1 (does not count as st), 1 sc in same ch-sp, ch 2, 1 sc in next ch-sp, ch 2, [1sc, ch 1, 1 sc] in corner ch-sp, ch 2, *1 sc in next ch-sp, ch 2, 1 sc in next ch-sp, ch 2, [1sc, ch 1, 1 sc] in corner ch-sp, ch 2, rep from * around, join and fasten off — 24 scs and 24 ch-sps.
To join your second hexagon to your first, begin working Round 4 as above on the second hexagon, but when you reach the first corner of the side that is going to join, connect as follows: Granny Hexagon PatternPetals to Picots. I 'm really happy that finally, finally, I've found a (relatively) quiet little spot in my busy-busy days to sit and whizz up a multi-coloured ta-dah post to share with you all. Pheww....for a while I thought it would never happen, I can't tell you how incredibly difficult it is at the moment for me to find time to sit and write. When I first made the decision to go with the acrylic for this blanket, there was quite a bit of uncertainty and I really wasn't at all sure whether it would work out or not.
I purchased the yarn on a bit of a whim really, chose the colours quite quickly in a dimly lit shop one lunch time. Brought them home in a big squishy bag, tumbled them out onto the floor, arranged them in rows, stood back and took a long hard look at my blanket-to-be. And oh-me-oh-my, I was not disappointed.
