Dumpling - The Backpack by Shin Ji-Young Dumpling Inspired Backpack Here’s a slightly different take on the backpack. The Dumpling, inspired by the delicious pouch foods, is a backpack that treats your belongings as color coded and compartmentalized items. The backpack is actually made up of a series of roll-up bags. A plea for funds to help build a cheap games console has ended with nine times more cash donated than had been sought. Ouya asked backers to pledge $950,000 (£606,000) via the Kickstarter website to turn designs for the console into a finished product. By the time the pledge period ended on 9 August the total promised had hit $8,596,475 (£5.8m). The Ouya console is expected to go on sale in March 2013 and cost $99 (£63). The link to Android means it will be able to play any game written for the mobile operating system. Games companies including Square Enix, maker of the Final Fantasy series, and Namco Bandai, creator of Soul Calibur, have pledged their support.
Nerd Paradise : How to Write a 20 Page Research Paper in Under a Day Posted on: 10 Cado 7:0 - 5.27.29 So you've procrastinated again. You told yourself you wouldn't do this 2 months ago when your professor assigned you this. But you procrastinated anyway. Shame on you. Pick a Topic The more "legally-oriented" your topic is, the better. Make a list ...of every possible outcome that this issue could cause in...the near future...the far future...of every person that this topic affects....of any instances where this topic has come in the news....what you would do about this topic if you had the chance/power/enough-sugar...any little detail you can think ofThe important thing about this is to think of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, no matter how silly or far-fetched. Reorder everything Put your most obvious argument first. Then put weird off the wall stuff, regardless of importance. Put the strongest argument for your case next. Now list the incidents that will help argue for your point. It's best to keep all this in the form of an outline. Spaces Now print it out. Write
The age of information overload Victoria Belmont finds out who is really in charge - our technology or us? From reading emails to managing status updates on mobile devices 24/7 with an all-you-can-eat data plan - we are consuming information like never before. Forget about describing bytes as mega and giga, think exa and zetta because by 2016 there may be the data equivalent of every movie ever made hurtling across the internet every three minutes. While that may seem like way too much for a person to watch, an academic study by the University of California, San Diego, suggests that current data levels are the equivalent of each US citizen consuming 12 hours of information - or media - each day. An average US citizen on an average day, it says, consumes 100,500 words, whether that be email, messages on social networks, searching websites or anywhere else digitally. "In principle, you can have more than 24 hours of consumption in a day." Tasered with a text And that is a problem that is beginning to get noticed.

China's '3D Fast Bus' Straddles the Road So Cars Can Drive Under Photos: Chinanews Too Expensive to Go Under? Go Over... What if there was a way to get most of the benefits of a subway, but without the costs of digging up all those tunnels? The Chinese company Shenzhen Hashi Future Parking Equipment Co. thinks it might be able to do just that with a concept it calls the 3D Fast Bus (which has also been called the straddling bus), and kind of giant bus/train that straddles the street and allows cars to drive right under it. This means that it isn't slowed down by traffic and it doesn't add to traffic either. The presenter in this video is Song Youzhou, chairman of Shenzhen Hashi Future Parking Equipment Co., the company that is proposing the 3D Fast Bus. What you can see from the video is traffic jams, what you can hear is noise, and there is also invisible air pollution. Compromise Between BRT and Subway It's certainly a very interesting idea. The MacGyver Approach to Winter Biking (Zip Ties!) Photo: Dutch Bike Co., used with permission. Low-Cost Solution to Keep On Bikin' One of the cyclists at Dutch Bike Co was caught without studded tires when it started snowing in Seattle, but no matter, that's nothing that a box of zip ties can't fix! This MacGyver trick isn't new, but now that winter is here, it's worth bringing up once more. Fritz Rice, the DIYer on these photos, says that while the ties look "completely ludicrous", they work "beautifully": I can accelerate, brake, and corner with aplomb, even on the vile snowpack/sheet ice mix the plows leave in the bike lanes. As you can see on this last photo, the tie heads as position so that they give extra grip when you are cornering, but they stay out of the way when going in a straight line. Cool, eh? Floating Pool Concept Could Clean NYC Waters "Like a Giant Strainer" Images: + Pool A giant floating pool just off the riverside of Manhattan - for swimming and also filters and cleans the water? Why not? That's what a group of designers and architects are proposing in + Pool (Plus Pool), a multi-purpose pool and urban revitalization concept that is in the shape of - you guessed it - a plus sign. The idea would be that the floating pool(s) could be integrated into any of Manhattan's riverside parks, adding an extra iconic element. The pool's configuration also allows different mixed uses: the shallower areas for kids' and lounging pool, the deeper areas for sports and lap swimming, or for swim meets as well. The pool walls consist of concentric layers of filtration materials that screen out bacteria, pollutants and odors so that the water within the pool is safe for swimming - reminiscent of an artificial floating trash island which can be constructed to purify a water body by filtering out impurities.

Document Extractor - Combi Monitor, Screen & Printer by Byeong Min Choe Print That Screen, Literally! Document Extractor – Combi Monitor is a screen that doubles up as a printer as well. Why? Because you need precious space on your desk to put other stuff! This monitor is just not a convergence product which is combined of printer and scanner. Designer: Byeong Min Choe Napkin PC (by @baekdal) #design It is the time of CES and the media is currently filled with a lot of very interesting products - but here is one that you will not see (unfortunately). It's a PC the size of a napkin. The best part is that it is based on passive screen technology (epaper), which means that it only needs power when you change it. The result is that whatever you draw on it will stay on the screen forever (or atleast until you change it) without the need for cables or batteries. This is a brilliant concept by Avery Holleman, and apart from the color epaper, all of it could be done today. The current epaper technology unfortunately only supports black and white (like the Kindle). In any case, I want one - as soon as somebody makes one. Note: I am not really sure that running windows on it is such a good idea - or let me rephrase that, any operating system. (Tip via email) Follow: 42Concepts
