Verner Panton – Restaurant Varna in the Varna Palace Verner Panton – Spiegel Verlagshaus Swimming Pool | Christopher Kane AW14 The mod spirit is in the air. Its bold and graphic style leaves a mark on the runways of Christopher Kane for his menswear AW14 collection. Kane’s use of molecular forms also calls to mind the interiors of Verner Panton. Many of Panton’s interiors seem inspired by molecular shapes, as circles and organic matter merge together creating dimensional environments.

In Residence: Jean Pigozzi's Villa Dorane by Matthew Donaldson for Nowness Art collector, photographer and fashion designer, Jean Pigozzi’s home ‘Villa Dorane’ is a visual playground and film maker Matthew Donaldson has captured it for Nowness as part of the ‘In Residence’ series. Pigozzi’s home, which is in the ever so beautiful Cap d’Antibes, was designed in collaboration with late Italian architect and designer Ettore Sotsass, and as we focus on all things Memphis we thought it is only fitting to share with you this absolutely mind blowing home. Pigozzi inherited the home in 1953 and soon worked with Sottsass to convert it into the unbelievable home that it is today. As one of the founding members of the Memphis Group, the interior is naturally overrun with Sottsass’ bizarre and bold aesthetic – extreme colour, pattern, geometry and proportion make up every element from the architecture, interior and beyond. Watch this entertaining video which takes you into the home and mind of Jean Pigozzi.

Mine » Reveiller Yep, I’m quoting computer animated seagulls from a kid movie, so what? Staycation, the collaborative home collection by Eric Trine and Will Bryant, currently on display at Supermaker in Portland, has got me feeling the hunger. And yes, if I had one or five of these items laying around my house, I probably would feel inclined to just stay home. Memphis - Part 2: Studio Toogood “The Hatch” by Studio Toogood. The project was an eclectic combination of memphis inspired patterns, and 20th century artists, such as David Hockney’s ripples, Keith Haring’s comic strip squiggles and Sol leWitt’s graph paper checks. The use of scale and materials, adds to the graphic playfulness of the space. The glossy surfaces combined with graphic patterns reminds one of big ‘building blocks’ that will lead to interaction with the objects to create an accessibility to contemporary art and design.

Stick System, 1x4, Grey/Grey - MENU A/S Sticks that stick together. Wooden sticks and joints of steel are the components that transform the versatile Stick System into a shelving system, a clothing rack and a worktable; interior elements of strong constructions that are easily assembled and offer multifunctional solutions for residential use as well as the contract market. The organic construction of Stick System is the creation of Czech designers Jan Plecháč and Hennry Wielgus, who in recent years have earned recognition for their design philosophy. “We wanted to create a clever and aesthetically beautiful design solution for a modern generation: Stick System can be extended and adapted to fit different spaces. It enables multiple options, which makes it a pragmatic interior solution to today’s increasing needs, comments Jan Plecháč.
