60 Reasons To Be Proud In 2012 Homosexuality criminalized by Nigerian Senate: Christians, Muslims cheer - National Humanist Although Christians and Muslims continue killing each other in Nigeria, there is one thing the two religious sects share - a mean and irrational hatred for homosexuals. On Tuesday, a bill criminalizing any and all homosexual behavior was passed by the Nigerian Senate. Under the proposed law, anyone found guilty of any publicly display of “same-sex amorous relationships” would receive a 10-year jail term. In addition, anyone advocating for gay rights or gay marriage would also be subject to a 10-year prison sentence. Finally, anyone who dared enter into a same-sex marriage would face 14 years in prison. The bill must go to the nation's House of Representatives for a vote before President Goodluck Jonathan can sign it into law. According to Amnesty International, the bill would: British prime minister, David Cameron, has threatened to withhold aid from Nigeria and any other nation violating gays rights. Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird issued the following statement:
14 Stories That Prove Animals Have Souls Why Are People Still Afraid of Atheism? November 23, 2011 | Like this article? Join our email list: Stay up to date with the latest headlines via email. Plenty of people are reviled for their religious beliefs. A landmark 2006 study, analyzing data from a large survey of Americans, found that atheists “are less likely to be accepted, publicly and privately, than any others from a long list of ethnic, religious and other minority groups.” So why are atheists “among the least liked people … in most of the world,” in the words of a research team led by University of British Columbia psychologist Will Gervais? Atheists, they argue, are widely viewed as people you cannot trust. “People use cues of religiosity as a signal for trustworthiness,” the researchers write in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.Given that “trustworthiness is the most valued trait in other people,” this mental equation engenders a decidedly negative attitude toward nonbelievers. Consider one of the experiments.
No More Steubenvilles: How To Raise Boys to be Kind Men When Max was just a few months old, I sat cross-legged on the floor with him in a circle of other mothers. The facilitator for our “Mommy and Me” playgroup would throw a question out to the group, and we would each volley back an answer. “What quality do you want to instill in your child? What personality characteristic would you most like for your son to be known for?” she asked. One by one, the mothers answered. The answers blended together until it was my turn to speak. I want my son to grow up to be kind. The eyes of the other mothers turned toward me. Max is almost 4 years old. Sexual assault is about power and control. Teach your child to go toward a child who is upset, instead of walking away. Date rape is often saturated with entitlement. As a community we give our athletes free reign. We have created this. It is time. We must teach our boys to be kind. A toddler can learn how to use words of kindness. Teach your boys that bravery can be terrifying. It’s harder.
Zach Wahls is messed up. Here's how. I've seen this video floating around facebook quite a bit the past day or so. If you haven't seen the video, watch it. If you already have, just to refresh your memory, the YouTube video summary says exactly this: Zach Wahls, a 19-year-old University of Iowa student spoke about the strength of his family during a public forum on House Joint Resolution 6 in the Iowa House of Representatives. Wahls has two mothers, and came to oppose House Joint Resolution 6 which would end civil unions in Iowa. In many of the facebook threads I've seen linking this video, those sympathetic to his cause have asked the same question. Easy. 30 seconds into his speech, Mr. So, to dial things back a bit, Mr. So to remedy that problem, what did Mr. That's what Mr. And what does her son, Zach Wahls, think about all that? That's something which is really cool for me. The sexual orientation of my parents has had zero effect on the content of my character, Mr. And in the end, he believed them. So, while Mr.
Original Greek Definition of Asenokoitai home clitoris ambrosia kundalini homosexual cagedfemale Regarding homosexual, The word "arsenokoitai" in 1 Corinthians and 1 Timothy: Homosexuals in The Holy Bible original Greek word "arsenokoitai" has a root word of man, no female! In fact, consensual sex between two men is "paiderasste". No mention anywhere of bi/lesbians. "Arsenokoitai" is a Greek word that appears to have been created by Paul when he was writing 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? The KJV was finished 1611 CE when there was no single word that referred to homosexuals or homosexuality. "homosexuals," (NASB); "homosexual perversion," (NEB); "homosexual offenders," (NIV). In doing this, they appear to have little respect to the actual meaning of the original Greek verse. The author of 1 Timothy also used "arsenokoitai." Christian theologians generally agree that Paul wrote 1 Corinthians circa 55 CE. What does "arsenokoitai" really mean? Nobody knows for certain.
Abstinence-Only Education and Teen Pregnancy Rates: Why We Need Comprehensive Sex Education in the U.S The United States ranks first among developed nations in rates of both teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. In an effort to reduce these rates, the U.S. government has funded abstinence-only sex education programs for more than a decade. However, a public controversy remains over whether this investment has been successful and whether these programs should be continued. Using the most recent national data (2005) from all U.S. states with information on sex education laws or policies (N = 48), we show that increasing emphasis on abstinence education is positively correlated with teenage pregnancy and birth rates. This trend remains significant after accounting for socioeconomic status, teen educational attainment, ethnic composition of the teen population, and availability of Medicaid waivers for family planning services in each state. Greta Christina's Blog: Atheists and Anger I want to talk about atheists and anger. This has been a hard piece to write, and it may be a hard one to read. I'm not going to be as polite and good-tempered as I usually am in this blog; this piece is about anger, and for once I'm going to fucking well let myself be angry. But I think it's important. 1. 2. And 3. So let's start with why we're angry. I'm angry that according to a recent Gallup poll, only 45 percent of Americans would vote for an atheist for President. I'm angry that atheist conventions have to have extra security, including hand-held metal detectors and bag searches, because of fatwas and death threats. I'm angry that atheist soldiers -- in the U.S. armed forces -- have had prayer ceremonies pressured on them and atheist meetings broken up by Christian superior officers, in direct violation of the First Amendment. I'm angry that almost half of Americans believe in creationism. I'm angry about what happened to Galileo. I'm angry about 9/11. And you know what else?

One Million Dads.com - Issue details According to the Nashville Gay Pride website, Home Depot gave over $5,000 to be a major sponsor of its 2009 Gay Pride Festival in June. But simply financing the event wasn't enough for the big box chain. Home Depot also signed on as a vendor, conducting kid's craft workshops for children via a special booth set up just for them. To this end, Home Depot is basically encouraging the attendance of children at events which openly expose them to transvestites, cross-dressers, and homosexual activities. Unfortunately, Home Depot's participation in the Nashville Pride Festival doesn't stand alone. Gay pride events have a long track record for offensive public displays of homosexual conduct. If you see a commercial or program which is offensive, .
