My Paper Crane Here it is nearing the end of April and I forgot to blog about the Bag Of The Month bag for March! As you can see I ended up having a sad photoshoot in my car one afternoon while I was waiting to pick up my son after school. I have actually been using this bag all month long. Vertical pallet planter DIY We’d all love to have acres of space outside our back doors – giant lawns where we can sit out for breakfast, embark on elaborate landscaping projects and perhaps host a small football match. Sadly, as our city-dwelling readers will know, this isn’t always a possibility. Which is why we love Fern Richardson so much. Her blog (and book), Life on the Balcony, is a haven of tricks and tips for those of us who only have a small space to work with but still want to get a little mud under our fingernails. One of her most genius ideas is this vertical pallet planter DIY. It ticks all the boxes of a good small-scale gardening project – easy to do, looks great and takes up barely more ground space than a plant pot.

Crafty Monster Bookmark Perfect for Father's Day This fun and simple bookmark came out of inspiration from Kari and Becky at UCreate. We all attended a conference a few weeks back and got to talking about how people come up with creative ideas. It can simply come from naming 2 supplies like googley eyes and pipe cleaners. Then Becky said how about a bookmark, so this Monster Bookmark idea was born. This would be a great gift for Dad for Father’s Day, along with one of our favorite books, What Dad’s Can’t Do by Douglas Wood. Supplies for a Monster Bookmark:

How to Fold Wet Origami Sounds like an anomaly, right? When I was a kid folding frogs, my mother gave me origami paper that was most certainly dry. But the works below by Vietnamese-American artist Giang Dinh were folded with one *wet* piece of paper. It's a technique called "Wet-Folding", invented by the great Japanese origami master Akira Yushizawa (pictured right). Macaron Coin Purse Just can’t help for not sewing these sweet little macaron coin purses when one of Craft Passion’s Facebook fans showed them to me. Thanks to XYZZhandmade for her inspiring handmade and some tutorial links in Japanese, this, this, this and this. No, I can’t read Japanese but I can guess from the pictures on how to sew it.

Pet Bed Step by Step Maybe it was all the adorable puppies on other peoples blogs? Maybe I just didn't want to tackle a drugery project like closet cleaning? Whatever it was, I spent the better part of Sunday on a pet bed for Brooklyn Limestone's very own mascot, Big Cat. I started off with this vintage suitcase I bought for $3. Our cat seems to just love to sleep in our suitcases, so I figured it would make a perfect place to sleep. Since Big Cat has discriminating tastes, some upgrades were in order.
