Scrumptious Baked Cinnamon Breakfast Bites

Scrumptious Baked Cinnamon Breakfast Bites
I love a good donut, especially a homemade one. What I don’t love is the pain associated with deep frying them. It is messy, time consuming and certainly more fattening. These baked Cinnamon Breakfast Bites mimic what I love about donut holes but without all the added stress and calories. They are super scrumptious and I encourage you to try them out yourself and see how long they last in your house! Ingredients 1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup crisp rice cereal, coarsely crushed 2 tablespoons plus 1/2 cup sugar, divided 3 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 cup butter-flavored shortening 1/2 cup milk 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 cup butter, melted Directions Mix flour, crushed cereal, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder and salt in large bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk and stir just until moistened. Roll dough into approximately 2 1/2 dozen 1 inch balls. Mix cinnamon and remaining sugar in a small bowl.

Cheesecake-stuffed strawberries I put a slightly different version of these on my Easter Menu, but I’ve changed them up a bit. With the help of my strawberry huller – I’m not a gadget gal, but this one is worth having — these are a cinch to prepare. I took these up to school for Teacher Appreciation week and was blushing at the compliments. Do you think they knew how ridiculously easy these are? Cheesecake-Stuffed Strawberries Snickerdoodle Muffins Last Friday I finished my exams and was planning on coming home and having a baking extravaganza, but then I tripped on my cat and fell down the stairs. We're both fine, though I think he's a lot more fine than me because as soon as I felt his soft body under my foot I took all my weight off of him and slid down the stairs. Which has left me with a swollen foot.

Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart Bread I’m sorry. I know it’s Monday morning and you probably came here for some pretty pictures of food that you could glance at, and then move on with your day… and here I go thrusting warm, soft cinnamon sugar bread in your face. It’s not fair. I know it’s not fair. I know that now you’re craving cinnamon rolls, and cream cheese frosting and chili fries and hot dogs. I am too… and I already ate half of this warm bread. Nutella Cinnamon Rolls May 10, 2011 | Print | E-mail | Filed under bread, nutella There are some days that I just lose my appetite. It might be because of my mood, or that nothing sounds good, or that I’m in a food rut again and need to spice things up a bit. When my appetite comes back though, what I’m inevitably craving is some sort of comfort food. Yesterday happened to be one of those days, and by the end of the day all I could think about was a warm cinnamon roll fresh from the oven.

Vanilla Bean Baby Doughnuts Even though I've been a busy girl lately, I'm never too busy for a doughnut break! I especially love the mini variety. These are extra light and have a double dose of vanilla goodness. Baked Eggs in Bread Bowls This was our breakfast Sunday morning. Aren’t they cute? They were very, very good. It’s the whole egg and the toast combo all together in one nice package. These are so easy to make and wouldn’t they be splendid on a brunch buffet table?

Homemade Soft Pretzel Bites Homemade Soft Pretzel Bites On Fridays, I teach cooking classes to two kids in our neighborhood. They are pretty knowledgeable-so my job is easy:) I think it is fantastic that they want to learn how to cook at such a young age-they are in the 3rd and 4th grade. Blueberry Crumb Muffins All too often blueberry muffins are a disappointment. Blueberry muffin recipes are often too dry, not fluffy enough, stained violet, or all the berries sink to the bottom. The struggle for the perfect blueberry muffin led me through a gauntlet of unhappiness and bad muffins, but I am happy to report that I won the battle. This recipe produces a tender muffin with an even distribution of berries. To make these muffins even better I added a buttery crumb topping, because nothing makes me happier than excess.

Honeyed Pears in Puff Pastry Poaching fruit is one of my favorite things to do when cold weather arrives. It's so warming to stand over a boiling pot of fragrant spices and lose yourself in thought. When I made these, I couldn't help but daydream as I stirred; if I were a pear... I wouldn't want to spend my days on the shelf of a cold produce department. I'd want to be taken to a warm home and placed in a jacuzzi of honey and spices. I'd want to be wrapped in an extra long puff pastry scarf and baked until golden and toasty. Garlic Knots Garlic Knots Being January, most people really don’t want to hear about or see sweets. As much as I’m protesting making and sharing healthier dishes, I will at least hold off on making and sharing any desserts for a while.
