Do you have a closet filled with items you no longer use? Before you pull out those garbage bags, take a peek at all of the things you can do with your long-lost treasures. All it takes is a little inspiration to turn these seemingly useless objects into exciting conversation pieces of creativity. Use this list to find 50 upcycling ideas to get inspiration to start a project of your own. 1. Adult socks can find a new use as toddler leggings. 2. How to Create a Welt | Knit Picks Tutorials A welt is a raised tube of material that is worked into a knitted piece. It runs along a line of stitches and resembles an I-Cord. It can be narrow, wide, be worked in knit or purl stitches, colors, or any combination of the above. It can be used as a design or structural element, and even used as a drawstring or piping casing. It requires an extra set of double point or circular needles that are smaller than your working needles. For this demonstration, we’ll do a stockinette welt; the welt as well as the surrounding fabric is stockinette stitch. Work up to the point at which you’d like to place your welt. Decide how big you want the welt. Work as many rows as you wish, doubling the welt portion over to meet the marked row to check size. Turn to the RS. Continue working as you were before the welt. If you are working a drawstring: on a RS row in the center row of the welt, work to the point at which you want one drawstring end to come out. Here is what the WS of the welt looks like:
Knitting - Working Knit Stitches Row One Toni Lipe: Hi, I am Toni Lipe with Toni's Design Studio. Today, we are talking about how to knit. Right now, we are going to talk about the knit stitch. We have cast on our stitches and we know how to hold our yarn properly and our knitting needles. So, let's begin the knit stitch. The first stitch, you will take your right-hand knitting needle and you will slide the needle under the first stitch on the left-hand needle so that they crisscross like this. Take the right knitting needle, slide it under the stitch on the left needle, take your yarn, wrap it around the right-hand needle so that it rests between the right and the left-hand needle and then pull the right-hand needle through the left hand loop and then pull that old stitch off the left-hand needle. There is a little rhyme that I used to teach eight-nine years olds how to knit and it goes along with the steps we have gone through. So, you go in from the bottom, throw the yarn, scoop the stitch through.

Knitting in the Round" To avoid sewing seams, you can work in rounds using circular needles or double-pointed needles. Circular Needles To work in rounds, cast your stitches on one end of the needle the same as you would on a straight needle. Check to make sure that the cast-on lays flat and smooth and is not twisted. Knitting with Circular Needles: Figure 14a Double-Pointed Needles Evenly distribute your cast-on over three or four needles, keeping one needle out to knit with. Knitting with Double-Pointed Needles: Figure 14b In the next section, you'll learn how to add stitches to your work. Natural Room Scents The lengths people go for achieving uniqueness to their homes is incredible. Challenges nowadays aren’t that of making some bold design concept or an intriguing decoration, but creating an own natural scent for the room. The steps are quite easy in this regard. It only takes a few jars and in no time, you will have a powerful scent centerpiece you can use in your house or gift it away. • a bunch of fruit; • mason jars; • water; • candles; • a fridge; Add all of the ingredients you want your centerpiece to include – fruits, herbs, spices – into a Mason jar and fill it with water, leaving some empty space of at least ¾ inches at the top. Once this step is completed, remove the lid and add ribbon, a gift tag or any other embellishment you think gives your centerpieces a nice look. (image via theyummylife)
Double Knitting - Knitting Community Double knitting is the exception to many knitting rules. You can double knit a stockinette scarf, and it will lay flat instead of curling. Color knitting will be reversible, showing a negative of the image on the back of the work instead of floats. How is this possible? Cast on Cast on with double the number of stitches The cabled cast on is great for double knitting because it creates a flexible edge. Cast on with yarn held double You could also use the cast on of your choice, but with the yarn held double. How to Double Knit Single color double knitting instructions This is the easiest way to do double knitting Cast on an even number of stitches *Knit 1, slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front, repeat from * across the row Repeat stitch pattern on each row Bind off (using any method) Double knitting with one color in the front and one color in the back Bring both yarns to the front and purl the next stitch with only the contrast color Repeat these two stitches across the row
DIY Unique Christmas Candle You can’t imagine a complete New Year’s Eve holiday without a decorative candle. You can choose from the many versions the downtown shops or malls offer, but they often lack the spirit and personality of a homemade one. So, make your afternoon a little bit more entertaining with this DIY candle. • white candles, not flavored ones; • a wick; • a glass or cardboard form, depending on what type of candle you are going to do; • additional materials, such as coffee beans, shells, cinnamon rolls, dried flowers and leaves, different cereals, dried lemon or orange slices, dried lavender; Now proceed to the process of making candles. Fill in the middle of the melted wax, placing a wick in the middle, attached to a toothpick for better fixation. The other method is by using a glass. Take advantage of some decorative materials out there and use special dyes.
Costura invisível no tricô | GANHE MAI$ Olá!

Mini tricô Lições This photo shows how easy it is to correct the problem should you suddenly realize you're knitting "inside out." No ripping necessary, merely push the knitted end of the sock through the center, just as if you were turning a finished sock right side out, then rearrange the needles as in the "knitting right side out" photos above. This may seem obvious to all the experienced knitters out there, but for those of us just starting the adventure of knitting in the round, this is exactly the kind of situation that can quickly drive us over the edge. There are times, of course, when knitting inside out is preferable--for instance when knitting two color work and the yarn is pulling too tightly. Some say that knitting inside out will often eliminate the problem of ladders but I have no first hand experience it will help with this problem. Most importantly, always knit the way that is most comfortable for you. MINI KNITTING LESSON ON CLOSING TOES... Step One Step Two Step Three Step Four Finished Toe
