Chemistry books Molecule of the Month Welcome to the Molecule of the Month page! This is one of the longest running chemistry webpages on the internet. Each month since January 1996 a new molecule has been added to the list on this page, which makes this one of the longest running Chemical websites on the internet! The links will take you to a page at one of the Web sites at a University Chemistry Department or commercial site in the UK, the US, or anywhere in the world, where useful (and hopefully entertaining!) Each month's new molecule will be announced on Twitter [@MoleculeM] and via an RSS newsfeed [ We are always happy to receive Molecule of the Month articles from anyone who wishes to submit one. What do I need to see the pages properly? See here for all the details of software and helper files you require. See here for a list of the awards and citations received by this page and a disclaimer. Above is a drop-down alphabetical list of all the molecules.
Predicting Bond Type Predicting Bond Type Previous Page: Naming Molecules When two (or, in reality many, many, many) sodium atoms get together they pool their valence electrons. Now notice the location of these two elements in the periodic table. Consider, however, carbon (C) and chlorine (Cl). One word of warning: hydrogen behaves in all this with a divided personality. Next Page: Comparing Bond Types Related Topic: Two Kinds of Covalent Compounds Link to Index Teaching Literary Analysis Literary analysis is a vital stage in the development of students' critical thinking skills. Bloom's Taxonomy illustrates that analysis should come at the fourth level, right after comprehension and application. What this means is that students must be able to understand and describe the text before they are able to analyze its elements. Teaching literary analysis is often a daunting and overwhelming task. After all, it is essentially guiding students slowly through the process of critical thinking and understanding literature. That’s not a simple undertaking. To guide students toward discovering literature all on their own, the steps of this process need to be introduced in a simplified form. 1. Some students need guidance when choosing a topic, but others have ideas that they would like to explore. Characters Themes Literary devices Setting Narrative. 2. The brainstorming process involves mapping out the different aspects of the chosen element. 3. 4. Introduce Evidence Analyze 5.

Simplest Formula from Percent Composition - Worked Simplest Formula Chemistry Problem This is a worked example chemistry problem to calculate the simplest formula from the percent composition. Problem Vitamin C contains three elements: carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Use the data to determine the simplest formula for vitamin C. Solution We want to find the number of moles of each element in order to determine the ratios of the elements and the formula. H is 1.01 C is 12.01 O is 16.00 The atomic masses provide a moles per gram conversion factor. moles C = 40.9 g C x 1 mol C / 12.01 g C = 3.41 mol C moles H = 4.58 g H x 1 mol H / 1.01 g H = 4.53 mol H moles O = 54.5 g O x 1 mol O / 16.00 g O = 3.41 mol O The numbers of moles of each element are in the same ratio as the number of atoms C, H, and O in vitamin C. The ratios indicate that for every one carbon atom there is one oxygen atom. Answer
