Nativity Lantern - Explore the Christmas Story with this simple Upcycled Craft At this time of year we love filling our house with light. Our Advent candles & Christmas tree lights are filling the house with a welcoming glow & brightening up those dark evenings. To add a special glow to our house Minnie created a beautiful Nativity Lantern, & it's been lovely to have as a centrepiece on the table for meal times. This upcycled craft is simple to create, all you need is a clean jam jar or coffee jar, some white greaseproof paper (or tracing paper), 2 strips of thin card (your choice of colour), some double sided tape, & felt-tip pens. We started by measuring a section of greaseproof paper around our jam jar, making sure it was slightly taller than the jar. Then my artist started to design her Nativity scene. To create the top & base of our lantern we attached two strips of card with double sided tape to Minnie's design. To illuminate the Nativity Lantern we added a battery operated tea light which lit up the design perfectly & gave the lantern a wonderful glow.

Crème de la Craft Blog | DIY projects made from everyday objects POTIONSMITH: Pipe Cleaner Skeleton This is my version of a pipe cleaner skeleton created years ago to make a little boy happy. Why was this young man obsessed with skeletons? Pyrates. Not POTC pirates, but MegaBloks Pyrates. Here’s a little taste of that magic where you can see the whole skeleton crew in action. Enough about pirates, it’s time for skeletons. You will need 6 pipe cleaners or chenille stems, 2 googly eyes and a bit of glue. Step 1 – The Skull Make a circle with the center of the pipe cleaner, leaving a 2.5" tail on either side. Fold the end pointing down, across to the left. Then fold it in half, tucking the end back around to front. Shape your smushed oval into a skull shape, and make sure the tail you just wrapped around is flat and tight. Step 2 - The Pelvis Leave 4" of pipe cleaner for a spine and make a small loop for half the pelvis. Make a second loop and wrap the end over and around at a diagonal to hold everything in place. Step 3 - The Arms Step 4 - The Ribs Bring it around to the left making a loop.
