These Photos Are Actually Pencil Perfect Drawings At just 22 years old, Italian artist Diego Fazo has developed the skill to create photo-realistic drawings using a simple charcoal pencil. His latest creation, pictured below, has drawn hundreds of positive comments on his Deviant Art profile. Don’t tell me you can tell the image below is a drawing and not a high-definition photograph, because I don’t buy it. In fact people were so skeptical this incredible piece of art was drawn by hand that young Diego Fazo had to put up some photos of the work in progress just to lay doubts to rest. And looking at his-mind-blowing masterpiece, can you really blame people for questioning it’s hand-drawn? Like other talented artists who started their careers on Deviant Art, Diego is a self-taught pencil master whose technique matured with the passing of the years. What paper should I use for drawing with colored pencil, graphite, pen In my classes, there’s a consistent question that comes up: “What paper should I use for this drawing?” Oh, how I wish that was an easy one, for the possibilities are truly endless. There are so many varieties out there, and each one will create a different look. Here are some things to consider when selecting the paper for your project. Here are the papers I use for graphite and colored pencil, as well as pen and ink (stay tuned–I’ll cover the substrates for other mediums in a future blog post). Introduction to Art/Drawing Exercises Drawing from life[edit] "Drawing from life" is the act of drawing what you see. Life drawing is considered fundamental to most other types of art because it teaches the student to observe all aspects of their subject. Life drawing is also easier to evaluate than more abstract art: If the student intends to draw a subject from life, then their artwork can be evaluated as how well it directly resembles the subject. The mental process[edit] The brain's visual system is large and complex, designed to reduce an image directly to a concept so that the person can then act on that concept. OUTLINE THE IMAGE IN PENCIL: The first step in this drawing lesson is to sketch a basic outline in pencil. Drawing a SQUIRREL: Step 2 Ink over the pencil lines. INK THE OUTLINE: The second step in our drawing is to ink over the sketch and erase the pencil lines. TECHNIQUE: As ink is a wet medium, give your drawing plenty of time to dry before you erase the pencil lines or you may smudge the image. Drawing a SQUIRREL: Step 3 Apply the texture of the fur. APPLYING TEXTURE: The next step is to start to build up the texture of the squirrel's fur. TECHNIQUE: All the lines and marks you draw should follow the natural direction of the bristles as this will help you to establish the form and texture of the animal. I am going to assume that you are like most people and don't have a single item except maybe a number 2 pencil. Oh, and you will need scissors and scotch tape in a few steps, but I assume that you have that stuff.
