Deck of cards book well I got bored of essay writing, so I figured I'd post this.My BF and I have our first *real* anniversary coming up in a couple weeks (we were FWB's for a long time but not actually "dating" until the end of last march) anywho, I'm fairly (okay almost totally) broke, so I decided to make him one of those "52 things" decks. the coverannd some inside pages: (this one could use an explanation: I don't remember how it started but we always meow at each other and use hand motions instead of speaking just to see if the other person can figure out what we're trying to say, and HE decided that it is spelled "mao" instead of "meow".) (it annoys him so much, but he has awesome curly hair- how can i resist?) Also, this has nothing to do with crafting, but I'm *very* convinced that he is going to propose sometime around either our anniversary or my birthday (exactly a month later)....and I'm just quivering in anticipation.

How to Make Your Own Beauty Products from Scratch Let's keep things simple this week. When it comes to personal-care products, we are big believers in streamlining what you use—see "Eight Products You Think You Need But Don't" for a refresher—buying less in general, and getting creative. We have both always loved experimenting in our kitchens and our bathrooms, checking ingredients in products we love, isolating the main ones, and then trying them on their own. Sometimes it works: A favorite hair leave-in contained aloe, for example, so one day we tried aloe alone and found that, lo and behold, it worked just fine on its own. And sometimes it didn't. Over the years we have tried dozens of DIY beauty recipes to find ones we like—and that work. Simple body scrub Honey face wash We already told you about our new favorite homemade face wash last week but here's the recipe: In the palm of your hand, combine a tablespoon of raw, unfiltered honey with a half a tablespoon of baking soda, mix it together, and apply to damp skin. Perfume Shave oil

Handmade Fabric Origami, Origamis with Fabric | Handmade Jewlery, Bags, Clothing, Art, Crafts, Craft Ideas, Arts and Crafts Blog Since most of the handmade goods are one-of-a-kind and made in small quantities, I do not have to worry about having a friend show up to my party with the same dress I am wearing. Random Facts About You? 1) I am a fabric maniac 2) I love folding Origami 3) I make a mess all over the house with my craft habit, but the outcomes are totally worth the mess!!! 4) I spend all my time feeding my craft addition. What got you started crafting? I have been making small things out of fabric as long as I remember. What is your source of inspiration? I grew up around my mom's sweat shop back in burma. What have you made recently? I have made a tsumami kanzashi using silk and cotton fabric. Where do you sell your crafts presently? I started my etsy store in december. Why are handmade crafts important to you? Growing up in a sweat shop, I have seen how mass producing co-operates can influence in factory worker's everyday life. Lack of quality in mass producing market is always a frustrating thing.

Creative Kismet » Blog Archive » recycled paper bag art journals I hate it when I forget my fabric grocery bags!! URGH!!! I try so hard to remember. They are hanging right by the door! Well, it happened again, on Sunday. I was able to get 2 small journals (4 x 5 inches) and one large journal (8 x 6 inches) from two brown paper bags. Here is a quick bit about how I made them: For two small journals cut 16 pieces measuring 5 x 8 inches. You can paint the pages with one or two thin layers of gesso to make the pages thicker and stronger and to give you a clean, white page. Ideas for your journal: *Color study, paint a different color on each page and then write feelings or draw pictures that each color evokes. ~things that make you happy~wishes, dreams and aspirations~pet peeves~goals~favorite things~travel journal~favorite place(s)~favorite people The great thing about these journals is that they are a really inexpensive way to get creative with art. Denim-tie dye (floral-y) This DIY kick starts my tie dye week (another version to come) and just might be my most favorite DIY yet!! As I was perusing the latest Elle magazine, I saw an ad for Paige denim. It was for a beautiful pair of tri-colored tie dye jeans (Paige Toulouse Verdugo Skinny). I have been on a color obsession lately and had to have my hands on these. The price was a little out of reach for me, so I thought I would take a stab at it myself. The steps were pretty simple. Materials: - white skinny denim (I bought an inexpensive pair from Target here ) - RIT dye (denim blue, wine bordo, and petal pink) - sponge brush Steps: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. NOTE on Washing: I recommend setting the dye before washing.
