Many members of the movement argue that such laws hinder creativity. They call this system "permission culture. Creative Commons is an organization started by Lawrence Lessig which provides licenses that permit sharing under various conditions, and also offers an online search of various Creative Commons-licensed works. The free culture movement, with its ethos of free exchange of ideas, is aligned with the free software movement. Background[edit] In 1998, the United States Congress passed the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act which President Clinton signed into law. Structure Your Presentation Like a Story - Nancy Duarte by Nancy Duarte | 8:00 AM October 31, 2012 After studying hundreds of speeches, I’ve found that the most effective presenters use the same techniques as great storytellers: By reminding people of the status quo and then revealing the path to a better way, they set up a conflict that needs to be resolved. That tension helps them persuade the audience to adopt a new mindset or behave differently — to move from what is to what could be. And by following Aristotle’s three-part story structure (beginning, middle, end), they create a message that’s easy to digest, remember, and retell. Here’s how it looks when you chart it out: And here’s how to do it in your own presentations. Craft the Beginning Start by describing life as the audience knows it. After you set that baseline of what is, introduce your vision of what could be. What is: We fell short of our Q3 financial goals partly because we’re understaffed and everyone’s spread too thin. 5 Tips For Writing Better Characters Into Your Screenplay For those of you that follow this blog regularly, you’ve likely read my article on The Importance Of Story. If you haven’t, then check it out sometime – The article touches on today’s modern technologically driven world and the fact that the art of developing a strong story is more often than not becoming a lost art. It explores the fact that so many filmmakers now focus more on gear than their screenplay, and as a result they wind up making films that may be technically sound, but are void of any emotional voice or meaning. So if I’ve done my job with my last article and convinced some of you that story is in fact more important than any piece of gear ever will be, then is that simply enough? Writing a screenplay is a balancing act, and while all the components need to work together in harmony, the one component that can really make or break the script (in my opinion) is the character. Here are my top 5 tips for writing stronger characters into your screenplay: What else can we do?

Lucha Libre is a form of freestyle wrestling and is "free" since it is comparatively unrestricted. Gratis versus libre is the distinction between two meanings of the English adjective "free"; namely, "for zero price" (gratis) and "with little or no restriction" (libre). The terms are largely used to categorise intellectual property, particularly computer programs, according to the licenses and legal restrictions that cover them, in the free software and open source communities, as well as the broader free culture movement. Richard Stallman summarised the difference in a slogan: "Think free as in free speech, not free beer Gratis[edit] Libre [edit] "Free beer" vs "free speech" distinction [edit] "Free software is a matter of liberty, not price. 1.
