How to Turn a Book Into a Top-Secret Camera Case Where to Find Camera-Worthy Books Look for hardcover books at thrift stores, used bookstores or the free-to-good-home giveaway cart at the library. Pick one with a cover you like (obviously) but one that you won’t mind not reading. What You’ll Need Step 1: Measure Your Camera Measure the length and width of your camera with a ruler at the widest point of the camera. Write the measurements down, and add 1/4 to 1/2 inch to each dimension to make sure the hole in the book will be large enough for your camera. Step 4: X Marks the Spot
Mi cesta de mimbre I Love You Cards This year I made this adorable gift for my boyfriend. On a deck of cards, I thought of 52 reasons why I love him soo much (I could have easily come up with 1000 <3) I typed them out and cut them up. Some cards I glued the white paper on and cut out patterned hearts. The other cards I backed the white paper with the same patterned paper and glued them on. Both designs looked great together. It was a super creative, super personal gift from the heart. Do us a Chocolate and Marshmallow Favour! We have seen another variation of this favour before, and we know, we know – the winter nights have yet to draw in; we are technically in sunshine and 99 flake land – but Hot chocolate ritualistically calls us to worship at its warm, comfort-in-a-cup feet. We are going to sound like masochists having just got over one of the worst winters in 30 odd years, but the idea of curling up with a big fat mug of the brown stuff, while enjoying the schadenfreude of bruised backsides and shattered egos – is our kind of heaven (You are more than welcome to copy and paste this line when we are cursing about it being winter!) DIY Floor Bed – The Finale! | greeneyed.com The moment has come! Sunny’s floor bed is finished! Woo hoo! She’s had a successful few nights on her new “Big Girl” bed, only rolling out three times. I’m so pleased to share the process and results with all of you. Now we just need to tackle the rest of the room redesign. Wood – We got all of ours for free from friends who had some lying around their barn (thanks Joe and Geraldine!) Hardware, $15 – Bed Rail Fasteners. Bed slats, more free wood (found in our attic). Ikea canopy, $19; Fabric & batting, $30 To build the bed, you’ll also need: a drill, a screwdriver, a pencil, a ruler or tape measure, a staple gun, and plenty of sandpaper…. How To Make a Secret Hollow Book: The first step into making the hollow book is to select a book. Make sure this is a book your own, and not one belonging to the library, or your family. I suggest rummaging through books at yard/garage sales. Make sure it is a hardback; otherwise you will cut all the way through the other side when you are cutting out the insides.You'll also need: Elmer's white gluea container to hold glue solution (I've chosen a film canister)X-acto knife, and/or box cutter. Mix a solution of white glue and water. Holding the remaining pages together, brush the edges with the glue solution - enough to soak in pretty well, but not too drippy. Allow this to dry, but use a spacer so the first couple pages, and the front cover don't get stuck. When dry, open the book to the first glued page. Draw out a half-inch boarder around the edge on all four sides. Using a strait edge and knife, cut out along the inside of the line. Continue cutting down through the layers. Remember that first page we saved?

Yarn Balls Jessica of Wednesday Inc shows us how to make those gorgeous twine chandeliers from the inspiration shoot she shared with us this morning. Using balloons, glue and twine, you can also make these lanterns for your wedding – and then bring it home and use it as your very own mid century lampshade. What you will need are: balloons, glue, yarn, tray for glue, corn starch 1/2 cup of Corn starch, 1/4 cup of Warm water, clear fast drying spray paint, hanging lamp cord or fishing line (depending on your desired final product), and a lighting kit if you’re looking for a fully functional lantern. Jessica recommends using a sharpie to mark on the inflated balloon how much room you need to leave for the lighting cord. She also recommends coating the balloon with vaseline prior to wrapping the yarn coated with glue so it doesn’t stick on the balloon once it’s dry. You can see all the details on Jessica’s blog. Make It and Love It: Glass Etching Have you ever done any glass etching? Well, neither had I before today. But wow. Such an easy, yet sweet little touch that you can add to any glass. Check out my new and improved etched Trifle Bowl. The perfect bowl for desserts of all kinds…..and even a great place for fresh fruit on the counter. Glass etching is also a great way to stamp your name on your pyrex dishes, to make sure they come back to you. And how about adding a little extra detail, just because…… (Edited to Add: The font used here is called Smiley Monster and I downloaded the font for free here.) Sweet in every way. So we were super excited to learn that you can create your own custom colors-and it's really easy! We first learned how from Martha Stewart whose tutorial you can read here. She recommends that you use latex paint, but we tried it out with acrylic paints with much success. Here's how you too can create your own chalkboard paint... Supplies: 1/2 cup acrylic paint (choose any color you like, or mix colors together to make the perfect shade!) 1. 2. Once your chalkboard has fully dried be sure to slate the surface before using it for the first time. Have fun creating any color combination you like!!
