Here's Why the Banksy Movie Is a Banksy Prank In the summer of 2008, I saw an article in the LA Weekly about a massive street art show mounting in L.A. named Life is Beautiful. On the outset the show seemed ambitiously cool. The 125,000-square-foot show was being staged in CBS' abandoned Columbia Square Studios, a massive modern office complex where I Love Lucy was filmed. The artist, Mr. Brainwash or MBW, was an up-and-comer who had already plastered the city in his likeness, as a guy holding a video camera. And the timing for such a spectacle could not have been more perfect: Artists like Shepard Fairey had illegal works dotting same blocks as their gallery-installed shows, and we were all still talking about the dusty downtown warehouse vandalized by Brit street art phenomenon Bansky two years ago. But something here seemed off. The whole thing, it's clear now, was an intricate prank being pulled on all of us by Banksy, who has never publicly revealed his identity, with Fairey as his accomplice. Ostensibly, Mr.

Nanotechnological innovations can improve water purification Research teams are trying different approaches within the nanotechnological field to improve water membrane technologies. One of these is to improve water purification by using nature’s own water-transporting channels, aquaporins. However, constructing suitable membranes for industrial processes is a challenge. Membranes for water purification are used in many applications and different types of membranes are being developed at the moment. In the European Commission-funded project MEMBAQ (Incorporation of Aquaporins in Membranes for Industrial Applications) researchers are taking advantage of a unique structure nature has already created, when they are developing a nanotechnological invention. The main challenge at the moment is to make membranes applicable to industrial processes. Another way of improving water purification through a nanotechnological approach has been developed by researchers at Stanford University. The Creators Project | James Powderly The Creators Project: So, James, how do you define your job? It seems to defy categorization. James Powderly: I guess I’m a designer, somewhere between an artist and an engineer. I’ve had a bunch of jobs over the last ten years but they’ve always been focused on technology in some way. It sounds like you have a dream gig, but where do you get the funds to realize these types of projects? Evan Roth [another member of the EyeWriter team] and I began working together because we secured an art residency in New York City at a place called Eyebeam. What do you mean by “fake”? Well, we actually don’t have a physical lab in a specific location; we just have the website. How did someone with your skill set choose creating artistic technology instead of making weapons or equally menacing objects? I think it’s safe to say that when you reach a certain amount of technical capability you can make whatever you envision. Can you briefly explain how the EyeWriter works?
Creative and Environment-Friendly Packaging Designs It’s funny that a few years ago, people were all over the new packaging material, plastic. The consumers thought this is the wonder material, the material that’s great for the environment. It’s cheap to produce, easy to work with, and it doesn’t hurt any trees! It was during the time where trees were being cut down indiscriminately; so people were happy that plastic was used for packaging and not paper in order to save the trees. Plastic was believed to be the material that can save Mother Earth. Fast forward years later and we see the immense effects of using plastic. We’ve probably heard of environment-friendly packaging design in the packaging industry. I admire creative and environmentally friendly packaging. The Saga of Biôrn Biôrn, an old Viking, is determined to reach Valhalla, the warrior’s afterlife full of excessive drinking and debauchery. I can explain expression drawing...and it'll be way better than all those tutorials out there that are nothing but charts of generic expressions. Yeah! Um. Anyway, I found all I could really do was try to explain ways to teach yourself...and then add some pictures.
