World Language Cafe Free Resource Library The Tree of Languages Illustrated in a Big, Beautiful Infographic Click image, then click again, to enlarge Call it counterintuitive clickbait if you must, but Forbes' Pascal-Emmanuel Gobry made an intriguing argument when he granted the title of "Language of the Future" to French, of all tongues. "French isn’t mostly spoken by French people and hasn’t been for a long time now," he admits," but "the language is growing fast, and growing in the fastest-growing areas of the world, particularly sub-Saharan Africa. German Short Stories For Beginners - LearnOutLive There are many ways to learn or teach German, but my favorite approach is using stories. I can think of a number of reasons why learning German with stories is so effective, but the best one is this: because it’s fun! Learning a language can easily become a chore, so anything that takes your mind off the struggle while keeping you engaged is heaven-sent. As opposed to the daily grind of conscious effort, by suspending our awareness of the fact that we’re learning a foreign language (which–let’s face it–is rather scary!), we can bypass mental blocks and make the process so much more efficient and enjoyable.

How to Develop a Theme from a Picture Book Step by Step PICTURE BOOKS ARE A WONDERFUL WAY TO INTEGRATE LANGUAGE IN CONTEXT in our foreign language classes while being engaging and fun at the same time! I also like that they are forms of literature, meaning they are not a story designed specifically for language learning, but rather are created to delight the reader, make them think, reinforce morals and social mores, etc (something I also try to do when I write my mini books!). This inherent aspect of a picture book (or poem!) gives it additional oomph in my opinion, and a deeper purpose beyond the language learning process.... but I digress! The challenging part, of course, is in how to take a picture book and turn it into a quality lesson and/or theme that meets language learning goals.
