Magical Mason Jars - Style Lush
Editor's note: A big welcome to Lauren! A stylish, smart mom from Virginia. You can visit her at Petroni, and follow her on Twitter, too! It's great to have her. By Lauren I love it when a humble, useful object becomes a beautiful, useful object, and few things are more useful than the Mason jar. Christina posted back in January that she uses Mason jars as scrapbook substitutes, an idea which I love and plan to copy. I love this Mason jar-inspired drink dispenser from Pottery Barn. And I had never thought of using sandpaper on the top of a jelly jar to create a clever matchstick holder. My little sister decorated her wedding site with Mason jars, wired to hang and filled with flowers. They are charming attached to a board and used for bathroom storage. I'd never thought of this one, but I might have to put together a mini Mason jar sewing kit for my guest room. What is your favorite use for the humble Mason jar?

rolled paper flowers {tutorial} Welcome to flower week – five days of simple and delightful flower projects. I could probably do three weeks of flowers because there are so many different ways to create them, but I’ve limited it to five of my current favorites. Before we get started, let me make a few disclaimers: Song Lyric Wall Art / D.I.Y. Project - A Beautiful Mess - StumbleUpon A couple weeks ago, I found a paint-by-number at an unbeatable price. I can't pass these things up even though I already owned this particular design. I thought that I could maybe use it to make a fun D.I.Y., but my new rule is that all thrifts that I purchase with the intent of restyling need to get done right away. I have way too many half finished projects in my life. With that little bit of motivation I came up with a fun D.I.Y. to display some of my favorite song lyrcis in our newlywed home. Enjoy....

How to Make a Disco Ball with CDs Edit Article Edited by Flickety, Krystle, Sondra C, Rabbit8888 and 43 others You can still dance to old CDs even if you don't like the music on them any more. Willow Bark Slip Whistle The Willow Bark Slip Whistle is a nice easy little project requiring only a small knife and a piece of freshly cut willow. The piece of willow should be about thumb width in diameter and about a hand span (150mm) in length (this will be plenty for the whistle and also give you a good length ‘working handle’ to carve with safely). For this example I’m using a piece of Grey Sallow as it is locally abundant in the area, but any willow will work just as well. It works best in the spring or early summer when the sap is rising in the trees.

Urban Comfort If I were brainstorming gifts for my son it's unlikely that a pencil holder would come to mind, but that's exactly what he's getting from me this Valentine's Day and I think he's going to love it. It all started with pottery classes, which I've been taking since September. My son has enjoyed watching my progress, taking particular delight in my mishaps since I am always reminding him that we get better at just about everything through practice. He mentioned recently that if I ever got past being able to make something other than bowls, I should make something for him. I think he suggested something totally ridiculous that I could never make in a million years, but I appreciate his confidence.

Water Balloon Luminary: Clever DIY Candle-Making Crafts Crafting decor objects is a holiday tradition that some might find a bit dull for more adventurous designs lovers … unless (perhaps) it involves hot wax, a water balloon and the slight risk of having it all blow up in your face. The process is remarkably easy, though not without danger – fill a balloon with water, dip it up to the water level in melted wax and repeat. Go above the waterline and it might just pop. After a few times down and back, the exterior surface should be sufficiently waxed to form a rounded solid candle-worthy shape that can hold a small votive or tea light. After a few iterations, the resulting (cooled) candles should be tipped over and drained – and the water balloon remnants discarded.

Mason Jar Key Hook - StumbleUpon Hey guys! Hope you all had a great Wednesday I have a fun project to share today! I started with a 1×8 board from Lowe’s that I cut to about 2′ long. I used a different paint method on this board and I love how it turned out so I am going to share it with you in my next post. With that being said, we’ll show you how to master a version of the ever so popular wrap bracelet. It’s so simple and addicting, you’ll soon be churning out these wristlets with your eyes closed. Decoupaging with Lace - Urban Comfort Once in awhile I'll come up with a project that I get a little obsessed with and can't stop making. This decoupaged lace container that I made for Better Homes and Gardens was one of those projects. It all started with my love of textured pottery, but as I've been embracing my more feminine side lately, I was drawn to using lace as well. Admittedly, I wasn't even sure it would work. But not only did it work, it was one of the fastest and easiest projects I've ever undertaken.

Plastic Cup Lamp Now that my university is closed for winter holidays, I finally have more free time to do all the crafty things I’ve been wanting to. One of these is a lamp made from plastic cups I’ve seen at taf, the art foundation, in the Monastiraki region in the center of Athens. When I first saw it at taf, I was amazed; I looked closely and I couldn’t believe my eyes! The object itself is so peculiar, modern and alien-like it could be in any design exhibition. With my best friend’s birthday coming up, I decided to make it myself and give it to her as a gift. DIY TUTORIAL and a giveaway! - StumbleUpon Happy Monday everyone!
